My car's factory Bose stere seems to have very poor radio reception. Anyone know what could be the reason for that?

Also, the previous owner replaced the factory Sony CD Changer in the trunk for another one which is the SONY CDX-424RF 10-DISC CD CHANGER which has a controller next to the original one underneath the driver's seat armrest. The problem is that the CDs skip all the time. I calle dSony and they couldn't tell me why and they couldn't confirm whether the unit can play burnt CDs or not. They did mention that there is a reset button on the side of the unit, but I couldn't find it. Out of the 10 Cds I have in the changer, 3 CDs will play ok and the others will only play a song or 2 from each CD or I'll get and ERROR -04. The Cds have no scrathes and are Sony and Verbatim. Any suggestions?

Is there a recommended unit that works well with the factory BOSE setup that supports MP3?

You might find the reset button on the control unit behind the radio (in the dash) some have it there some later ones don't. Unplug the changer unit in the trunk. Run a lens head cleaner disk through it, cleaning the lens cured my skipping....

Not true at all. It's jsut after 10 yrs., belts wear out and the carrier gets out of adjustment.

Just had to rehab my home Denon CD player for same reasons including broken solder joints on some IC. And it has never been out of my stereo stack, much less bouncing around in the trunk of a car.

Thats called breaking. Even worse is Sony's current line of "XPlod" products.

Yeah when stuff stops working and needs to be fixed, thats generally what I define as broken...

The clarion CD changer in my old Q was pushing 10 years old (it was dealer installed) and it is still working in the Q that I sold it too.
