My 90 240 is only getting about 300km to a full tank which costs me more than $30...this can't be right...what are the first things i should look at...and cheapest things i can change such as air filter and spark plugs..what else could i do

also could you guys post what kind of mileage you get on a full tank? i'd really appreciate if all you guys could answer..city/highway, driving fast, slow, whatever...just post..thanks

air filter and plugs most likely... run some seafoam through your tank

Yeah check the plugs and filter first. In the summer i was having a similar problem and it turned out the plugs were ****ed. It gets much better mileage now, even with my test pipe.

I usually get almost 500km per tank, But I have recently changed the airfilter for a k&n filter, changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and taken off my a/c compressor belt to improve effeciency, and i'm not sure if it makes a difference but I only use premium gas.

Try any or all of those changes and it should help out.

I used to get 28mpg mixed highway/stop-and-go, now I'm lucky to get 20mpg. Gotta wait untill the weather gets warmer and figure out why. Full tuneup less than 5000 miles ago.

I'm with leper, I get around 28-30 all freeway driving, but in town I get around 20.

You guys who are getting really bad mileage might wanna try cleaning/replacing your air sensors (MAF and O2) to see if that will help. Maybe taking it easier on the pedal might help too. :)

No, I used to get 28 under the same conditions that I now am lucky to get 20. Not 28 highway, 20 city.

the cap is the thing your plug wires plug into, driver's side of the motor, it has 5 holes and another little doo-dad. the rotor lives inside the cap, it is secured by an 8mm bolt. be sure to tell the parts people which distributor you have (it says on the side so im told).

look for pitting on the tip of the rotor, it's the metal "blade", also on the flat side of each of the four posts inside the cap
