What does everone think of the "new" GTO? I kind of like it. Seems like some decent competition for the Z.

Only in the straight line. Its got the good old bang for the buck factor in that regard. It's an overall nice car with what appears to be a pretty good interior as well from the articles and photos I've seen/read. The handling is way subpar to me though. And it's quite a heavy car. I'd prefer a G35 over the GTO. Even if it's a bit slower straight line.

I agree. I think it might be a fun driver, but a hemorhhoid to own after 60,000 miles. (as with most GM cars). I'll have to test drive one.

Based on reading? A damn good value, a blast to drive. I'd buy one.

I'm more interested, however, in the new Solstice.

its really a holden. they just took an ADM GM car, rebadged it, and brought it over here. not worth all the excitement and waiting. from the way they made it out to be, it was going to be designed and tested, etc as its own car. C&D said the interior felt cheap, it didnt handle well, the power is ok, and that it looked like any other pontiac. not worth the GTO badge IMO. maybe they should have renamed it something else, and then redo the GTO. maybe start the GTO as a special 4wd version of the GTP. then make it its own car, like the old GTOs.

I agree. The only reason the new Goat looks at all promising because it's styled better than previous Pontiacs. I'm sure the dumb scoops/flares/spoilers and flaming chicken decals will be on the 2nd yr models. 1st year American makes are very always risky to buy. If the GTO turns out to be another Catera (which was another cheap unreliable rebadged GM car), the hype could be short-lived. I hope the Goat does well, but history is not on Pontiac's side.

they'll never be able to capture the orig. goat's reputation and history if they go at it like this. they'd have to put the most basic of basic stuff in it, drop it down to about $25k, and keep them super simple option wise.prolly not going to happen, they'll just bring out a new F-body type car first.

Ugly.

Musclecars are supposed to be aggressive-looking, with "ragged edge" performance.

This thing is dull in both appearance and performance - Certainly fast, but not "holy crap" fast.

I agree hitman.

I saw it up close last night at car show 4 first time.

Looks like a RWD Grand Am.

33K???

hahahahahaha

You can get a Cobra for a little more and MUCH faster (1 sec in1/4) and much more potential.

WTF is GM thinking????:rolleyes

I think its a neat car. Stale idea though, legends are made by creating something new, not copying the past....

The solstice on the other hand, that car may signal a new era in domestic car production.
