Thoughts? I am looking to up the boost just ~2.5psi to hit an even 10psi for now. I have been looking at MBCs, but if I can throw on a couple of washers to get that level, why waste $40-$150? Thanks guys.

I've done it before... works fine. Just use thin washers and don't add too many at a time. Kind of a pain to get it right, but it'll hold boost real nicely.

I've used the washer method as well w/o any problems. As Sean said, it's a pain, but once you've got it set, it works quite well.

Since I am looking for just 2.5psi, and I happen to have a plethora of washers, I will be doing this tomorrow. Nothing like a cheap 10-15hp increase I always say!

called shimming the wastegate, MKIII supra owners almost always make it one of their first mods.

or you could just bend the actuator arm....

Why do it this why when you can have an easier way.I have used this method for over a year now on my z32 and it works fine.Get yourself boostjets (the real name for them is Meg welding tips) with different sizes, the smaller the whole, the more boost you will get.take one tip and insert it inside the vaccum line of the waste gate actuator line. Plug the vaccum line in place and call it a day.

Z32 owners use that on most of their cars.Jwt sells them for about 15-20 dollars a piece while you can pick them up from any local store for about 2 dollars a piece.

Good luck,RafiPULSAR GTR

Bending the actuator arm is difficult and is hard to reverse. Boostjets sounds like a good idea, but that is a hit or miss kind of thing, plus, I already have the washers LOL.

I have a ball and spring boost controll laying in my apt that I paid like $20 for and then upgraded to EBC, so if you want it I'll give it to you for $10 shipped.

Thanks, but I am going to go this route until spring. When I may finally be getting off my a$$ and buying some real power toys.

Nismo hg, ARP head studs, SAFC, VG30/RB20 MAF, flashed EPROM, 450cc's, and a G/T28/R. We shall see.

Oh, that and my buddy may give me his ProfecB and take payments from me LOL. He has a WRX and he just ordered his UTEC and STi pink tops. He also just dropped in a VF34. Yum. We are looking for 340hp at the wheels very soon from him!!!

let me know what you max out your 440's at, because I have 440s, Z32 mafs, rom tuned ecu, fmic, and a t04e and top mount manifold that I'm gonna be putting on soon. Just waiting for the turbo to get here from japan, its taking forever (almost as long as it will to spool). anyway with that setup my injectors will probably be the limiting factor... assuming my headgasket etc don't blow, but I'm planning on upgrading to cometic metal and arp head studs as soon as I can (hopefully before I increase the boost).

Well, I tired this method, and man it was a PITA. I could only get 1 washer under each bolt, so I got a whopping 1psi increase. I will look for some better spacers and see where that gets me.

Try removing the c-clip from the flapper arm, and then unbolting the wastegate. Then put your washers back in, and using a pair of vice-grips, re-attach the wastegate arm to the flapper arm, and then put your C-clip back on.

Yep. That is how I did it. I just couldn't keep any more than 1 washer in there at a time. Every time I tried to use 2, one would fall. After I was done, I hade a nice little pile of washers under the car lol.

I keep a tube of superglue in my toolbox for **** like that, just glue the washers together or use the glue to hold them in place.RTV works well too cause you don't have to wait for it to try, its so pasty it holds stuff together like gel.

And you did a motor swap? That must have been funny to watch! JK! It is a pain to do.

I hate you Ryan.

I thought about the glue, but since I didn't know how much shimming the wg would increase boost, I didn't want to add any more thickness than I had to. When I redo it later in the week, I am going to superglue the washers LOL.

So: 1mm shim = ~1.5psi of boost FYI.
