i was browsing around another site when nico was temp down <cough-freshalloy> & stumbled onto a harder bushing may damage the lca or the tc rod??? is that true to those of u who have these installed?

i did search on here & found no complaints... so what r these peeps talking about?

the rods w/ decent bushings i got 2 months ago r still holding up, so no rush in gettin the poly units.

here's the links:

If you wanna do even better then the pillowball units we offer will offer caster adjustment as well as not have the problem the polyurethane units have.

It's kinda hard to explain but the pillowball units have twist in them just not forward/aft movement.

Broken LCA with poly-bush.

Search here or fresh alloy for answers...

Get the SPL rods Nismo_Freak mentioned. I've had them for a while now and couldn't be happier with them. :)

I realize it's subjective, but how much is ride quality sacrificed without having bushings in the tension rods ?

its rough. how stiff of a bushing are we talking about that cracks the LCA? im going with energy suspension bushings for my T/C rods and i dont want to lose my LCAs because they're too stiff. also, i'd love to get the adjustable T/C rods, but i dont have the funds. i was thinking about the Nismo T/C rod bushings because they're not as stiff, but i think they're $31 a piece as opposed to $36 for a set.

If you mean, how's the ride quality w/ the SPL rods, then the answer is 'just fine'. :)

The only time quality suffers is when I hit something on the road like a small imperfection or the drunk bumps...is just sounds and feels like something much worse just happened.

As far as bushing stiffness, how I understand it, all poly-bushings can potentially cause the problem. They don't give the play the stock bushings or the heim joints do.

I just wonder how the spl rods hold up over time on a daily driver. It looks like the pillow ball end is completely open to dirt/water/etc.If I knew they'd last and the site was more clear as to whether its $161 for a pair or for one, I'd grab a set (the goo in my oem bushings is long gone).

damn, maybe i'll have to save up to get the SPL ones. sucks cause mine are REALLY bad right now and they're creaking like a mofo and i dont have the funds to get the adjustables.

Nismo_Freak, how well do they hold up against the elements?

also, what about the Nismo bushings? they're stiffer than stock, but they flex... im just trying to find alternatives to pillowball ones. if not, i start selling stuff.

There isn't really an alternative per se... you can't really compare polyurethane to steel.

As for the longevity... we have had a set on Kuah's 300Z for going on 1+ year and they still look/work fine. In fact he used stillen units first but he broke them, ours seem to be better quality than the Stillen units just by virtue he hasn't broken them with an even stiffer suspension setup.

It's an exposed heim joint...eventually it will creak and make sounds. You can clean them though periodically and add some degreaser. I actually just did this last night. For me, it's habbit. If I'm under the car (which I am often), I'll give em a little cleaning. No biggie. :)

The only T/C rods that come with a dust boot are kazama...that's a really cool feature about them.

just curious, a few of you said that the bushings cracked the lca...do you mean the tension rod bushings caused this, or the lca bushing? im about to press in both, i do plan on jic tension rods, but not just yet. thanks
