I'm trying to decide between the Coupe and Sedan. I much rather the look of the Coupe and know it would be much more fun to drive, but it's been many yrs since I've owned a "small" car and at my age, wonder if I'd eventually wish I would have gotten the larger Sedan. Also, if you have the Coupe, do you rather the standard or automatic?

BTW, I'm Female/43 yrs old/trying to decide between the Auto/Manual

A poll will tell you what others chose, not what's best for you.

The G35 sedan and the G37 coupe are very similar in handling and performance. How much space do you need? The coupe has a small trunk and limited head room in the back seat. It would not be a good choice to carry four adults plus luggage. We bought a coupe because there are only two of us and we have a Subaru wagon for big loads.

Automatic transmissions are now good enough that choosing between a manual and an automatic is just a question of preference and convenience. Other factors being equal, which one do you prefer? Since we prefer manual transmissions, that's what we bought. However, most people seem to feel the opposite. If most of your driving will be in stop-and-go traffic, an automatic will be easier to live with.

You should be aware that the manual transmission only comes with the sport model of the coupe. That means a stiffer suspension and 19 inch wheels and tires. Because the 19s are not the same size in front and back, they cannot be rotated to equalize wear. And 19 inch tires are less common and more expensive than 18s.

I bought the coupe - standard version, not the sport model which I though had too stiff a suspension. This is my 2nd coupe - had an '03 G35 for several years and loved it. If you don't need the space then go for the coupe - it's fun to drive and doesn't look like everything else on the road.

A dumb Cajun question for sure. Test drive several varities and select the one YOU want.Should be easy- that's how you get a HUSBAND!!!

IMO, get the coupe in an auto with sport(the 19" wheels and tires are sooo worth it for looks alone) and premium....black, red, or white......all are hot....the 37 is a tight sexy beast....and a brand new redesign, a +

the sedan IMO is a bit tired.....

Then again, if your lifestyle and circumstances dictate otherwise (ie youre a real estate agent) then the sedan may be for you....

Thanks for all the replies/suggestions. Very rarely does anyone ride in my backseat, so backseat space is not an issue. Today, I decided that I want a Coupe. Tomorrow I may change my mind (that's a woman's prerogative you know).

Mom,your sounding like your wanting to be sexy, sleek and sporty... that would be the coupe. If your wanting to be Mom, practical, utilitarian and comfortable that would be the sedan.

As for auto or manual, hows the traffic in your area? One thing that made me go auto was the two mile an hour crawl I have daily at one point in my commute, that and I'm 46 now. The dual mode auto's are a nice compromise between sport and luxury, however if you're really looking to reclaim some fire... manual is the sport enthusiast must have.

Going sport isn't the most comfortable ride, definately test drive and see if you prefer less bumps in the road.

Hmmm, interesting. Of 34 poll participants, only 1 female. This could indicate more men drive the G37 or it could indicate more men frequent these message boards. Who knows

The 6mt sedans and coupes I have driven are pretty much the same beast, just less trunk and backseat room in the coupe.

With similar equipment the coupe is about $3,500 more at invoice that the sedan - so the sedan is very much a better bargain if you are buying.

Depending on where you live and the number of Infiniti dealers it can be a lot easier to get a deal on a sedan than a coupe - the coupe has no competition from Acura, Lexus, etc. The only RWD luxury/performance coupe in the same range is the BMW 3 series and even with the inflated G coupe prices the BMW is still more money. The sedan has a lot more competition for the buyer's dollar so is more aggressively prices by Infiniti and often by the dealers.

The manual/auto is a no brainer to me - a manual is the only way to go, but I don't face a long, slow, stop and go commute each day. If I did, I may have had to settle for a auto. 6mt coupes and for sure sedans can be a lot harder to find than autos, so again deals on autos can be easier to get and you can likely find your first choice of options/colors a lot easier.

If you are leasing, it is about a toss up. The higher residual of the coupe offsets most of the extra cost of the coupe (at invoice) so lease payments are similar.

Insurance is more for the coupe, but for more mature drivers with clean records this should not be that much different.

The resale value on the coupe will always be stronger than the same equipment/miles on a sedan. So down the road when you sell/trade a coupe you will get more money. Enough to offset the extra you paid when new? Maybe not, but a lot of it will come back.

The sedan is far more a bargain for what you get than a sedan, similar performance with more room. The coupe is sportier looking to most.

Everyone should get what they want and afford, but should understand the pros and cons of each model.
