u91 are the 'default' pads in their parts lookup system, and some speak of the 'new' u91 being better than the old.

still, tech counters that u93 contain the most ceramic and quietest.

what are you running?
I run Hawk HP-Street Compound pads. They seem to be VERY quite but pricy.

thanks for the replies. i am going to go with dusty, soft, quiet.....the u93's.brembo blanks and oem shim and caliper kits.

for the rears, i'm picking up some j30 calipers and anchors from wisconsin Charles. this is to upgrade rears to vented rotors.

planning to run the u85 pads on the j calipers to keep the sensors.

more brembo blanks and oem caliper kits. any red flags?

what about rear shims? go with the j30 shims to match the calipers or g50 shims to match the pads/sensor?

Sounds like a nice "upgrade". I recall Q45Tech mentioning the J30 rear brakes were better than the Q's. It'll be interesting to hear your impressions once the whole system is in place. It would be great if you could take some pics oif the process (swapping to J30 rears) for a possible article .

the J30 rears should go in without any problem, good upgrade, however i wouldnt expect to feel any difference since the front brakes are so far balanced foreward.

Balanced forward?......... Not compared to most 4,000 pound cars...........why the rear pads wear fast compared to others. Why the Q as new could stop in 129 feet [besides the XGTV 170 treadwear tires].

The old Q is maybe 65% front [depending on the speed which brake are applied.............pad friction coeficient varies with speed of application.

Antidive suspension, VSLD, etc vs a solid rear axle.

Anyway the J30 rear rotor is just vented vs solid.............not much difference in weight so the peak temperature rise will be just a little lower unless sustained when the air flow will help offset rise [mountains?].

80/60 to zero should not change [time to short].............anyway tires are always limiting factor since ABS is tuned to match fast wearing tires........every ABS cycle lengthens the distances significantly.Pads rotors don't gain more than 200F in a single 80 mph stop.........far from 500F when weird things start to happen with pad nonlinearity.

Why you can get 115 feet or 130 feet or all the way up to 150-175 feet with BAD tire choices! Just from 60 mph

I guess what I was trying to say is since the Q is balanced more foreward (obviously) and the J30 brakes really arent that much bigger (just thicker and vented) that i wouldnt expect to see much of an improvement in braking.

Wait a minute guys.

You completely misunderstood me.

I did NOT say that these pads and rotors are meant to last a lifetime. I stated that they have a lifetime warranty. Meaning that for as long as you own them, they will replace them free of charge no matter the condition. All you have to do is have you receipt and bring in the old ones.

The pads wear out between 10k(really hard braking) and 50k(alot of freeway) miles. These are NOT a really hard compound brake pad.

The rotors on average last through about 2~5 sets of pads depending on how well you brake(crapping braking causes warping).

So in summary, don't talk about it unless you have tried it.
