Hi, I'm back for more questions, it's been a while since I was posting here. Anyway, I want to know who has a custom kit and who has a off the shelf kit like fmax/nsport and such. Please don't be cheap on info. I'm gauging to see if I should build it on my own or go ahead and buy a kit and upgrade from there. Also if I do buy any of the popular kits like nsport/fmax/xs, do I have to upgrade my bottom end? I mean I plan to do so when I upgrade the crap out of it later down the road. I want to achieve around 400whp. I know that those off the shelf kits wont cut it and in need of upgrade to get 400whp or so, but for now I just want my 240 be faster than my Sentra Thanks for the info.

BTW, I'm planning to get a S13 silvia front end conversion, will any of those off the shelf kits fit the front end?

The absolute best option IMO is to buy a BoostDesigns kit. Cheap and quality all wrapped up. For the price of those kits you probably will have a hard time building your own with new parts. Plus BD is a NICO sponsor.

I don't have a KA-t but as far as best bang for the buck the BD is what i would go with. Not to mention it's got a 1yr warranty(not sure if the other kits come with a warranty). The quality is top notch and it's as complete as the other kits out there for damn near half the price.

I for one second Structure's opinion. I bought the Nsport kit over a year ago and while it is a good kit, there are a lot better alternatives on the market today. Do your research and decide how much you are willing to spend on the parts.

Pretty unanimous that BD has a great kit for the money.

Some folks want a lot more hp, and there are suppliers out there (some of whom are members here) who can help you get there, but be prepared to spend more money.

For the money, it's not really an issue, well it's not right now, because I'm going to build it very very slowly, but surely. I'm not going to build it all at one time. I want a drag motor, rather than a drift; I'm not really into drift that much anymore cuz I feel that's it's only a fad that's going to die out. I'm focusing into dragging my 240 to low/high 12's or so. Then if I do succeed on that, I will buy another motor and do a high comp on it and swap it out if I want to go a road track. Thanks for the reply btw. I was leaning towards the BD kit as well and I just wanted you guys' input.

EDIT: WOW. I just checked the BD stage 3 kit and that's pretty cheap. Another question for the boosted, how's your motor holding up? If I do procede and get the stage 3 kit, will I need better crank/rods, better flowing head (I hear the 240 already has a good head)?

EDIT2: LOL. I keep editing this. What about Boost Evolution's kit? It looks pretty good and cheap as well. It even includes an Emanage.

I'd steer FAR away from BE.

Several issues with customer service, and I'm not convinced you'd be as ahppy with it.

It's high praise when three of the most knowledgeable people I know on KA-T's endorse the BD kit for the $.

I put all mine together before BD was even around, but if i had to do it all over again, i may end up putting my own together again. Thats only because i enjoy shopping around and saving monye, that doesnt mean its the best thing to do nor the easiest thing to do. I had a tought time finding things the way i wanted them, but oevrall i saved money. It took me about 7-8 months of assembling to get my parts together. Its all up to you, and what you want. For ease and quality, buy the BD kit--they have a good rep.

i myself will be goin with a BD stage 2 kit later on.(gettin the $$) or the stage 3....read many good things from it.you don't need connecting rods, the BD stage 3 you send your connecting rods to him and he'll shotpeen it for you as those are allready forged, crank is not much of a matter as far as i know, that'll net you 400hp.

Sick.....I guess turboing my KA is getting closer to become a "almost reality". I'm still deciding and reading a lot of things like turbo's and whatnot. I might just piece them together. I guess I'm just worried about the piping. Do I just go to a machinist or something? I sooo want to do it myself though...the cutting, bending and welding....no kaching for them stuff though, but I can dream....I guess if all else fail...I'm going with the BD kit....I'm shooting for 400rwhp but if the kit can give me 350...i'll be happy...
