Aight, here's the deal: Either I buy another 240 (which I'm having a hard time finding) or I buy one from this guy who builds it and sells them. Looks pretty clean from the pics I've seen (its on Ebay, just search for 240sx, its the read fastback with the SR from SoCal.) Help me out guys, is it really worth it dropping the engine yourself??? I'm not much of a gearhead, but I learn fast and I took on suspension on my 93 del Sol and learned a lot. I'm really leaning towards dropping the engine myself, but I haven't done something as technical (or as rewarding) as that. So let me know guys~!

PS - as of now, I have a 93 Fastback with an OBX shifter, custom interior (in process), and a SPEC Stage I clutch in. I'll be using the next car for a daily driver to school (about 110 miles) or if I get a better one, I'll give it to my Girl and I'll keep the current 240.

Thanks guys~!!!!Swapped in or Swap in???

I say swap SR into daily driver you will probably save money.... but you probably will have to have someone do the wiring for you.

just my $.02

Well, I've done some budgeting, $8000 for the complete swap with everything I want in there plus some other unexpecteds. The guy is willing to sell the 240 for $5000 without LSD, $5500 with LSD installed and labor included. Sorry, forgot to mention that in the first post.....

As long as you think the car is done right and don't have any attachment to your other car then buy the SR one. But I would have to be sure that the SR didn't have any problems. And being in CA, how do you expect to pass smog?

Good luck,biggie

I can just bribe the mechanic into passing me. I also know that the guy who's selling the sr20-240 has a race car that was in the D1 event at irwindale... I guess that's enought for me to go on, I could always just drive down there to check it out....

I'm kinda confused on why everyone thinks the wiring is so hard, granted I haven't done the swap or looked at a harness, but from what I understand all it should take is cutting the wires and lengthening them, doesn't sound too hard if you know how to solder? Am I missing something?

well i personally would love to drop a SR in my car. hell anymotor for that fact. even another KA would be fun. but...im only 15 and dont get my license till march so the car can sit for quite a while and i would learn so much doing so. do you have the time to do the swap. i mean it basically comes down to, a. more for your money, but a risk there might be problems. or b. learning in the process, having a reliable engine, and having the satisfaction of doing it all yourself for more money. i say swap your own. especially if you've never done it before. it would be a huge learning experience
