Pretty soon I'm going to have to change out my valve cover gaskets (been leaking for a long time) and I was wondering how can i go about painting mine or polishing mine for a clean look?

Whats "gunk" about I hear that clears up grease really fast... my engine bay is dirrrrty I'd like to clean it up somehow

Pretty pricey considering you can hardly see them with them on.

True. But is anything cheap on a Q?

I'd go for it if my Q was a show car. Maybe after the President conversion. I was invited to a VIP meet in Queens, but I had a slight panic attack and had to decline. I had a crippling fear of being ridiculed because of my lack of modifications.

I know where there is a set of 94 covers. I've already got an extra 94 plenum. I may pull them too and have them ready to do something with if I do that plenum job. Well I guess I will do it, it's just a matter of when. But I can't decide if I want powder coating or polishing.

Those do look pretty. If you're going to that much trouble maybe you'd look into ways to reroute wires and hoses so you don't have all those covers on the front of the engine. Then you can see 'em!

With all the covers off it looks dumb. You have all the nut holes open and it looks like something is missing.Save your money and powder coat the plenum. It looks better powder coated than polished. Make sure to have a pro do the powder coating!

Yours sure looks good. How does something like that cost?

It cost me $330 to powder coat. I did the labor myself.

By labor are you mainly referring to the sanding? What did you use for the sanding? Any machines used or just all by hand? I'd like to do something with my plenum when I get it off for the plenum job and for the valve covers I'll probably just do what you did with my glass bead blaster.

Hah! $330 could go to the much needed maintainence on my car...

If I'm gonna change the gaskets I'll have the valve covers off and I'd like to do something to make it look better, preferably something cost effective and something I can do at home... could care less for showing off I just want more of a reason for me to drool over my car.

It's definately below fixing deferred maintenance, but we can dream and talk about it can't we?
