Take the valve cover off and using an orbital sander, drimmel, and by hand sand paper and sand it starting at 120 grit, then work your way up to like 600 or even 1500. Once it's all perfect and sanded like that, go to harbor freight and get some white tripoli polish, apply it to a buffer wheel, and polish away...bling bling in no time.

there is detailed info with tons of pictures on polishing. Even though its a walk through for 3000GT parts, its all generally the same.

IMO, it would look better if you paint your valve cover the same color as your car.

I have a red '95 240 and I painted my valve cover black. But I didn't do any of that stuff that, that guy was talking about. I just took it off, washed it. Sprayed it. and bought a new gasket. That was it. Here's mine.Josh

Just a word of advice, when I went to my polish and powdercoating shop, they advised me that cast aluminum parts will not come out to a mirror shine. He said forged or spun aluminum can come out super shiny.
