UPDATE!: (6/16/16)
Well, my court June 13th appearance was uneventful for a few reasons. I am seeking a lawsuit against the city, and because of that, I will have to move the case to another city/courthouse because the judge and prosecutor have to be impartial and unbiased. I have a feeling it may be a while until something actually happens with this case. The next court date is scheduled for July 11th, but all that will happen is the announcement of the case moving to another city. Will keep everyone posted as soon as something happens. Additionally, I may create a facebook event, or twitter account specifically for this so that the updates can be quicker, AND I may possibly want to start protesting and rallying. Since the day this has happened, I haven't received an apology from anyone. Not the mayor, not the councilmen, not the police chief, not the police department, not the internal affairs. This cop tried to cause an accident. I haven't even heard a worth-while excuse for it yet. I know i'm not the only one who thinks that officers shouldn't try to get into accidents with people, as well as harassing citizens and provoking them into getting arrested...because of that, I am contemplating setting up a twitter account, as well as protesting (with banners, shirts, etc.) because something should be done in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps if this made national news, something would be done quicker.
Any suggestions for protesting/rallying? What are your opinions?
--Omar BI thought the exact same thing. I fail to see any damages he incurred. He hasn't even had his hearing yet, much less hear the results of the internal affairs investigation. Very disappointing if he's using the lawsuit for some kinda pay day.BusyBadger wrote:What exactly is the OP's lawsuit based on? Damage to the his vehicle, traumatic injury, hurt feelings?
While the LEO is facing harsh (and deserved) public scrutiny and is almost without a doubt getting reprimanded in private I'm missing where a suit from the OP has any merit.
Bingo.BusyBadger wrote:I learned pretty much everything I needed to know about the OP when he mentions LEOs in other countries being trained to shoot in a non-lethal matter but couldn't cite any sources to back up his bullsh*t claims.

Update (9/11/2016): Court last Friday (the 9th of September) was the first appearance in Paterson. The DVD of the second incident (The Zinburger incident) needs to be retrieved (a company needs to get a subpoena for it.) B/C of that, the judge ordered the next court appearance to be October 28th. I would think that all of the appearances from here on out should be eventful since court has finally been transferred, and we can focus on the actual case.Code: Select all
(11/4/16) UPDATE: Well, court was last Friday. We made progress towards speaking about the case. However, it has just occurred that the company that owns the film of the second incident is reluctant to release it to us. The higher up management made several excuses, one being they saved the wrong date, and another saying that it was deleted. However, I personally spoke to a worker, and a supervisor, both of which said the DVR does not delete anything... based on my conversations with several people, including people in and out of the company, current and former, the company is corrupt in its management. At the end of the day, I wonder if this security firm has ties to the clifton police department, and in an attempt to protect 'special interests' they are purposely tampering with the evidence? As an IT guy, it would be nice to see if I can extract the data from the DVR myself which is possible if it really has been "Deleted." Nothing else at the moment. ---OB
