Does anyone out there have the greddy tr evo2 exhaust? I am searching for some sort of DOT certification paper or something saying its not illegal. I bought mine used and dont have any paperwork. A state trooper decided to take it upon himself to rwrite me a ticket for it yesterday, nevermind the fact I was doing nothing else wrong, and now have to goto court over it. All help is appreciated guys.

Try to go to the hearing first.The judge will let you tell your piece just tell him its not loud and dont start talking about performance anything.
If you are lucky he might just decide the ticket has no merit. If he lets it go plead not guilty then the state has the burden of it being illegal, which they wont be able to meet unless your car actually is too loud.
Just because an exhauist is not from the oprigibnal manufacturer its not illegal, just explain you replaced a broken rusted out exhaust with one that works. "your honor just because I didnt go to the Nissan dealer to get my exhaust fixed doesnt mean its illegal"
The only way its illegal if its too loud and I doubt yours is, the standard for that is pretty high here in KY.

I may be a kid driving a japanese car, with a differenty lookign exhaust and I believe this is what earned me the officers attention, rather than failure to meet any objective standard.

Well put. I think the only state that can legitimately give you a ticket for an aftermarket exhaust is Cali. Damn CARB Nazi's. I think if you present your case like Palmer said you should be fine. The state will be burdened with having to prove it is too loud. They will have to have some sort of standard that is applicable to anyone. You should also question the officer's training in determining the db level of said exhaust. Has he had any formal training in sound levels? Does the state have a program to educate on said sound levels? Good luck.

not on my exhaust here is what greddy said:Sorry, but that product was not sold as a street legal exhaust system. That is a special order item from Japan and is not tested for street in the US. Sorry. You will have to check your local state laws to see what can be done to modify the exhaust to pass sound inspections.
