Since I still own a SE-R, I'm still a member of b15sentra.net...

unfortunatly, a few people over there are still retards, thinking that FWD setup can drift. trying to explain to them that going fast, using your e-brake, and turning isn't drifting, one of the people who thinks is FWD setup can drift is a moderator... and becuase i've proved him wrong, he's trying to be all buff and retaliate, and probably on the verge of banning me, but since that site has gone to crap becuase of people like him... I'm here, asking the rest of the Nissan Community that actually has a brain.. can FWD drift? Can a FWD setup drift?

No, and I'm a b15sentra member too, I just don't post there much cause well... yeah, it mostly sucks.

The SE guys are alright though...

Anyway, FWD can't drift because FWD can't maintain controlled oversteer without (and often with) the e-brake. As soon as you step on the gas the car goes where you're pointed.

NTN and Sil80, glad to see you guys like it here.

This one's pretty played out, there's differing opinions. I think the last consensus here was that an incredibly skilled driver might be able to simulate actual throttle-on oversteer, but it's not "true" drifting.

Certainly not worth getting banned over.

Hey - Invite your friends, our Sentra section is finally starting to take off! :)

I push NICO on every Sentra board I've visited, hoping that I will no longer have to visit b15sentra...

LOL - I'm sure they do the best they can.

We're just VERY fortunate to have a kick-a$$ group of moderators, some very knowledgeable members, a few pretty cool Admins, and one incredibly handsome owner! :)

according to the drift bible the e-brake technique is a entry level form of drifting in a fr. so in a ff it has to be the only form.I say using the e-brake is one of many types of drifting. so a ff can drift.just my .02:)

Without going into all the boring details, yes to both, since 2/04.

But I prefer to be known as just a NICO admin. :)

Yes, they can.

And no an e-brake is not needed but can be helpful.

Until I see a FWD car take turns 8 and 9 of Willow Springs(Big Track) together as one turn in a full drift, I don't see what FWD cars do as drifting. A momentary loss of rear end traction is not really drifting. Yanking the E-Brake will slow the car down and even if you try to power out, the front end will just end up dragging the rear wheels around. Or even if you get the rear end to come out using an imbalance technique, the rear end will eventually end up following the front tires or the car will just spin.

Why we gotta ask this damn question all the time. Search search search I know I have participated in these arguments many times over. My thoughts Yes FWD can drift.

cuase i'm too lazy to seach. screw b15sentra anyways, NICO guys here are more mature... and definatly more knowledgable. I'll just stick around in the sentra/200sx forums and help it grow with my ricer-knowledge :)

Well since you are a sentra owner I don't suppose you have been exposed to all the dumb arguments in the 240sx section. Unless you braved that hell hole for some untold reason. :D

They can get sideways, but can't drift. There is a big difference. Excellant drivers maybe can simulate drifting, but its not, all for one reason: the rear wheels aren't spinning with drive.

the definition of drifting is a controlled slide. it sure looks to me like that EF driver is controlling his slides pretty well, and losing traction of all 4 wheels.

It's jut not the same. It's too linear. Drifts, as I see it, are supposed to be somewhat parabolic. When a RWD or AWD car drifts there's this maddenning sense of loss of control, yet complete control, with a front wheel drive car it's simply this controlled slide.

Let me try to draw a picture here:

FWD "drift" :...\ ..................................RWD/AWD drift: _......................\.......................................................... \....................... \.......................................................... }...................... /........................................................../....................../.........................................................--

That kinda sucks, but I think you can get the idea. The RWD/AWD drift has an apex, while the FWD "drift" has more of a vertice.

Don't want to start a war, just my thoughts, feel free to cite them as you wish.

drifting is getting the car to turn to the side and slide with control.ff can do this.D1 and the drift king do not use ff b/c drifting is better in fr.(easier in my opinion too)it is hard to master in a ff but it can be done.i'm sure we all saw the civic video.
