Has anyone attempted to make a "partition" or heat shield/box for their pod filters? Or even a CAI? Seems like a pretty sensible idea. A pod filter gets heatsoaked especially with no shield surrounding it... so why not shield it? Probably one of the cheapest ways to gain power. It is ideal to have air as close to/or cooler than ambient temperatures. Building a box out of tin/aluminum whatever... Insulating the inside with adhesive foam or whatever materials you prefer and possibly building a duct to trap outside air and directing it to flow into the box..

Check this out you'll see what i mean....http://www.skylinesaustralia.c...ition

Tell me if i've gone overboard with this one.. just got the idea from skylinesaustralia.com any ideas? suggestions? insults? all is welcome

Pod filters don't really get "heat soaked" since they are usually made of paper and plastic. The reason for using a box is (as you said later) to pull in air from outside the engine bay.

For that purpose, I would suggest you ditch the insulated aluminum idea (overkill) and just go with a material that is already a decent insulator: plastic. With some quality 1/8" plastic sheet (PE or PP) and epoxy you could make a nice box in any color you want without having to use insulation.

In fact, plastic is such a good idea.... even the OEMs use it.

You bring an interesting point to my attention Wulfgang... The metal would just up my "bling" factor.

Has anyone here tried this? I think I'm going to give it a go whenever I get my car back...
