Ok, I need the opinions of the NICO RB association on a couple questions regarding the thread title.

I was talking to a Japanese friend of mine yesterday and asked him to take a quick test drive of my car and give me his opinion.

Background on the guy: He works in the design department of Nissan Japan and is also the owner of a pretty clean R32 GT-R which gets tracked pretty frequently. His mods are suspesnion, R34 turbos and front pipe...and that's it.

Anyway, after he drove it, he said the response in the lower RPMs was a bit sluggish and mentioned that a good grounding kit may solve that problem. What's your all's take on grounding kits.

Also, we were talking about the pod filters and I asked if they really help performance as I have heard conflicting reviews. I have the APEXi filter kit with MAFS adapters that are aluminium.

He said that with normal to mid horsepower, it's really not effective and can actually hinder performance due to higher intake temperatures and would be better off going back to the stock air box with a good filter. Opinions?

I want to keep the R running as good as possible and don't plan on doing any severe mods in the near future as I plan on keeping it for quite a long time.

He said everthing else seems really good on the car. He was really impressed with how solid the trans seemed to shift and also said the clutch felt really good and couldn't detect much slippage in it.

So, if I could get some opinions from you guys, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

A Grounding kit wont hurt.Doesn't matter if it costs a billion $ or $2.00So don't get fooled into buying a super expensive kit.

Yeah open filters aren't such a good thing. You can buy those Cold air box/air filter kitsOr you can go to the JDM home depot and get some sheet metal a pair of shears and get creative.

I am getting one custom made from the local tuning shop and I only have to pay for materials. Gonna be a bit more expensive since my battery is in the trunk, though, but not to bad. Just materials here are more expensive here than in the states.
