This past Friday, I spent a fun day at Pocono Raceway, ‘da Tricky Triangle with the Audi folks. We had the north course. Nice little course but a bit bumpy in spots. Had great weather again, and a nice variety of cars and people.

There was one other Nissan there. A gentleman in a modified NISMO Z. Very quick. I was supposed to have a student in a 370Z but the owners decided to run their heavily modified A4 instead. Still a fun ride.

I was surprised how big and busy Pocono was. While we were on the north course, there was a group of modified mustangs on the South Course. There were also several garages with NASCAR cars, with a couple folks tinkering. Plus during lunch, a pre-1930 Rolls Royce owners club took a few parade laps around the main track. About 20 Rolls’ in various stages of repair.
Here are some paddock pics:

The Nismo. Owner was a great guy, part time drifter. I invited him to Carlisle.

Aston Martin. Beautiful car.

My friend’s Lexus ISF

There were two 914’s there, one was a full out race car. Which was very quick

Beautiful Porsche 904 replica. Very sexy

An Audi R8 (yawn) actually it had an aftermarket exhaust that sounded evil.

Several Acura's there, a mixture of TL's and TSX's, many stock

Yes , a bone stock Saturn. There were a several bone stockers, like a Focus 4 door, a Saab,

Cars transitioning from the infield to the main track near turn 3. I was surprised the wall was concrete. I had thought most NASCAR tracks had transitioned to softer walls. As you can see, we ran the course in the opposite direction than NASCAR

My friend’s MR2. It’s normally aspirated.

BMW M6 with 3500 miles on it. It developed electrical problems at the end of the day. Love them bimmers...

Obligatory shots of my car and the beast.

There was a professional photographer who captured this nice shot of me in the infield

nice Caddy CTSV loud and fast.

There were some nice old Audi's including a few 1995.5 S6's, this one had a full cage

Factory Five cobra. HAs a 302 Ford crate motor, owner noted it puts out about 340 hp and weighs 2100 lbs. Quick and noisy.

Definitely love the 904. I've always had a thing for the 6-series as well. I'd take an M6 over either the M3 or M5. Beautiful car. Too bad they all get crappy German wiring.

Hrrrm. Looks lowered to me and the wheels look like they are from the Ion coupe perhaps. I'm no Saturn connoisseur by any means...

I took photos at Pocono back in ...2004 for some SCCA pro racing event. I don't even know where the photos are; I do remember my Minolta 5D taking a s*** on me though because it was so hot. Ah, the early days of DSLRS. :gapteeth:

Bubba: If you're ever at a PDX at NJMP let me know, I can come out and take photos! (unless I'm already autocrossing) :)

What is all done to your Z Bubba? You have a build thread or something? Just stock?

M6 wheels are super baller.

That would be fun! I believe I'm at NJMP's Thunderbolt June 20-21.

It's completely stock except for brakes/tires. Brakes are now Stoptech BBK's 332 front/328 rear, with Ferrodo 2500 pads. For tires I'm currently trying out a set of Goodyear Eagle F1A's,

I've been diverting Z money into the tow beast lately as I've been doing more track days in recent months. Next up for the Z are rcompound tires and a rollbar/harness.

They emailed me an invitation for this one

These are Audi club HPDE's. The Pocono one happen to be a one day school which was nice, given the track. Many are two day schools.

here's the national link to their events.

http://www.audicarclubna.org/chapters-t ... s-calendar

here's a link to the potomac chapters events:

http://www.pcc-acna.org/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=77

There's a one day school at Summit Point Raceway's Jefferson circuit in September for first timers that might interest you. It's followed the next day by a one-day school on Summit's main track. Summit Point is maybe 90 minutes from you (near Harpers Ferry WV)

You don't need to own an Audi to attend these schools, but you do have to join the Audi club (not very expensive), Once a member you can sign up for any events anywhere. I officially belong to the Potomac chapter, but I instruct for several of the other chapters. It's a lotta fun.
