ok so i go back to finsh the grate texas emission test. reset the ecu drive it 200+ miles. go get it tested. pass the test get hit with 40 more bucks.(over15 days ) get the sticker in the window. KEEP IN MIND THAT I HAVE NO CAT OR PCD AT ALL. and i still passed. i ask him why 96 and up just get the ob2 down load and not the rod up the tell pipe. and i quote.if your car is putting out smog the ecu will tell my test unit that you emission system is not working.ok so what the f*** is up with this s***. i still say it just to make money for the fat cat that have to much now. i have almost 90,000 miles on this 97. and i drive with the hammer down all the time. just letting you know.

If only that were true. There are several things that can go wrong that OBDII will never know about. I have no CAT and it throws no codes.

It would, however, be nice to have a smog guy like that here in Cali. But then, here in cali, the machines are built to perform the tests a certain way. It's not hard to fool the system as long as the smog guy is willing.

this guy is 100% all texas state law do it by the book. i got pop on the speed sensor that i cut to get my car pass 115mph.had to put all the junk back so i could pass. as for the cat and the rest . i just let it go. i dont tell him that it was not working.left it all on the car .her in texas the emissions unit are linked to a main unit in auston i think. obd1 can be falsified but obd2 cant. but if all i have to do ever year is to reset the speed sensor that fine with me.:ylsuper
