So my car was running fine till just the other night after a whole day of driving..My car struggled when I started it up like it wanted to die on me, when I tried a second time it started up but started idling very ruff like it was wanting to quit and now has a loss of power. Checked my vacume hoses and all looks good a friend thinks its probably my rotor and distributer cap? Any ideas as to what it could possibly be?

Your welcome,What I meant by running lean is that not enough fuel is getting into the cylinders. Therefore starving the motor and making it run poorly. A lack of spark (or strong spark) could do the same.

Have you checked anything yet?

Check the throttle position sensor, and the connector that goes from it to the main harness. If there is a loose wire at the connector or of the contacts are not clean that could be another possiblilty.

My wifes car the other year had similar problems, lack of power... rough idle it would slow down to a max speed of like 80 on mountain roads. I checked the TPS, there was NO output signal. I replaced it and problem was fixed.
