It seemed to be slow to start for a day or two each time I stopped to run errands. By that I mean it was turning over slowly a couple of times. But the engine started up right away when it caught. It seemed as if the battery was weak. Then, it just woudn't turn over at all after I had stopped at the grocery store here in Florida. The only sound I could make out was the muffled hum from the trunk area which only lasted for several seconds while the key was on, and then a faint clicking of the blue relay switch whenever I turned the key completely to start.

I took the battery out and had it tested and recharged. It tested fine. Then I purchased a new relay switch (blue thingy in front of the pass side firewall). Still the same. Even the new relay switch was clicking.

Then I went for the starter. After several hours of twisting and turning I was finally able to release it from its well protected hiding place only to find out...it works great!

So now what? What else should I look for guys & gals? Thanks in advance for your expertise.

how bright are the headlights? do they dim considerably when you turn the key to start it? If the battery is good and lights are dim, start checking all the connections. Don't forget to make sure you have a good ground. Easy way to check this is to hook a jumper cable to negative post of battery and other end of same color to something metal of the engine and see if it fixes the issue. Sure sounds to me like you have a poor battery connection if the battery is truly good. Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes a plate will come loose in a battery and suddenly short out to completely dead when you hit a bump in the road. Very rare and it doesn't cause your symptoms, but I'd be looking very carefully at the battery if the connections are clean. And clean on the outside of a connection isn't a good indicator of how clean it is inside. Take the connections apart if possible and wire brush them and put them snugly back together. I use a cheap digital volt/ohm meter all the time. You can get one for under $20 at O'reilly's or similar parts store. Battery should be around 12-12.5 volts with engine off and around 14V with motor running. Did you try jumping your car with another car when it wouldn't start? If that does the trick, it's either the battery or a connection at the battery.

The headlights do not dim when attempting to start. I tried a jump start before I removed the battery - no go. I will check the ground wire and make sure terminals and everything is clean.
