how bright are the headlights? do they dim considerably when you turn the key to start it? If the battery is good and lights are dim, start checking all the connections. Don't forget to make sure you have a good ground. Easy way to check this is to hook a jumper cable to negative post of battery and other end of same color to something metal of the engine and see if it fixes the issue. Sure sounds to me like you have a poor battery connection if the battery is truly good. Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes a plate will come loose in a battery and suddenly short out to completely dead when you hit a bump in the road. Very rare and it doesn't cause your symptoms, but I'd be looking very carefully at the battery if the connections are clean. And clean on the outside of a connection isn't a good indicator of how clean it is inside. Take the connections apart if possible and wire brush them and put them snugly back together. I use a cheap digital volt/ohm meter all the time. You can get one for under $20 at O'reilly's or similar parts store. Battery should be around 12-12.5 volts with engine off and around 14V with motor running. Did you try jumping your car with another car when it wouldn't start? If that does the trick, it's either the battery or a connection at the battery.
