Plz Help "at Check"

The other day i was driving my 2001 Infiniti QX4 on cruise control and all of a sudden the cruise went off and the car didnt shift to 4th gear. I stopped switched it off and waited a few seconds and turned it back on and then i got a something that lighted that said " AT CHECK'" could some1 plz help me?????

Could be something serious or just a small electric issue.

Your car will have a code stored on the nature of the problem and a dealer can use his consult to read the code.As your powertrain is still under warranty (unless your milage is unually high) I would use their consult to find out what that code is.

No I dont have the FSM for a QX4, but if you find out the code some of the other guys here can interpret it for you and likely better than many dealer techs.

A Nissan dealer has the same consult and can also read it for you if your Infiniti delear is too far.

Beware of independents that dont have a consult(TM) and claim they have a "computer that reads it just fine".

Oh well i just wanted to know what the words "AT CHECK" meant on my odometer. Thanks anyways fred

They mean Automatic transmission check as you have probably surnmised at this point.

That means to have the AT checked, by reading the codes via a consult read.

1996 and later are OBD2 so any scanner can read the code.

Did you check your AT reservoir to make sure you have enough transmission fluid???

In my expereince the AT Check light comes on when you either have to little or too much transmission fuid and it usually occurs on an incline to sharp banked turn.

You may also want to post in the Pathfinder/QX4 forum, the guys in their would be able to help you out.
