Anyone know if you can run larger diameter rims with the same tire size? Specifically 18"x7.5" +43 with the stock sedan tires (215/55/R17).

Probably a stupid question but I don't know much about wheel/tire fitment. Thanks for the help!

the tire dimensions are 215/55/R17, the 17 of that means the tires are meant for 17" rims. so the answer is no, you need a tire that has 18 for the last 2 digits.

if you want to play around with tire sizes, use this: http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsptry to keep the tire the same height as stock, and keep the difference under 3% and you should be fine. by the way, stock tires have 45 offset

Thanks, I was afraid that might be the answer. Just can't bring myself to drop $1800 on new rims/tires for a 3 month old car!

Guess I'll just wait for these Turanzas to die (which shouldn't be too long if tire rack reviews are right...)

Yeah, I'm looking for forged rims in the 15-17lb range so they aren't gonna gome cheap.

go used. craigslist is your friend. just make sure that if/when you buy them, you thoroughly inspect the tires and rims cause there's people out there that will try to sell you crap

i bought G35 19" forged rays for $700. the tires needed to be upgraded but i also bought those used for $650, and i sold the old tires for 200. so overall it was about $1.1k for my new setup, but i sold my stock rims and tires for $600. so in the end i didn't spend very much.

I think I'm going to end up paying about the same. 800 for Rays forged 18s, but two of the tires need to be replaced for $300.

I'll keep my OEM rims though just in case I need to drive around in snow (the new rims have summer tires on them)
