I think I am going to kill someone...

Ok, I was driving the other day and I noticed that every now and then there would be a bit of hesitation in the power. So I pulled over and popped the hood just to give a good look around. Well I saw that the number 2 plug wire was popped up and out of the hole (still attached, but up about an inch)..

Well, I pushed it back down and looked everything over again. Then I started the motor and went home; everything was fine. The next morning I checked again and now the number 2 and 4 plugs were popped up. I pulled them out and found that they pretty much just fell apart and that there was quite a bit of oil down in the well. I thought I had found the problem; a bad valve cover gasket.

Yadda yadda yadda... I had it fixed and when I got home the wires were popped up again. Let me note that at this point I am not noticing much hesitation anymore, maybe once or twice and then it stops, but it is really ticking me off..

Well to make a long story short (haha) I can't figure out why these things keep popping off and how to fix it.

-I am pretty sure the oil leak has stopped, I check it after every drive and it seems to be gone-only the number 2 and 4 plug wires pop off-the valve cover gasket (internal and external) has been replaced

My last guess is that the old wires still have a small ammount of oil on them and they just can't grip anymore.. but seeing as in the process I have bought $150 (yeah, I know) worth of wires, I would really like to not just go and buy another set on a hunch.

Someone :help before I go on a shooting rampage..

So what exactly have you replaced?

Valve cover and plug gasket?Plugs? Plug wires?

Check the tops of the plugs. The little things that the wires clip onto may have unscrewed themselves.

I just replaced my plugs and i noticed that some of tops were loose when i removed them. Maybe your have come off completely.

that and make sure your spark plugs are tight. You'd be surprised how many I've seen come loose

I have had the plugs, wires, and the valve cover gasket replaced.

The little tip is the thing that just completely pulls apart. When I took it out the first time it took a bit of effort to pull out and when it did it left the tip inside the plug well.. in fact it has done that ever since; always leavin' that frickin thing in there on all the cylinders..

I have tried everything to get the wire to stay down.. it will stay down at idle, but when you get an type of increase in throttle it just pushes up.

And you will all be happy to know that now it is missing on two cylinders just about constantly... I have resorted to rigging a piece of wood rapped in rubber on top of all the plugs so they can't pop, surprisingly it works great..

Maybe it's time to go car shopping again :(

Dude, don't go car shopping just because your plug wires aren't staying seated. Talk about jumping the gun.

If you haven't replaced the wires, then do it. And the plugs themselves.
