ive got a 95 j30. im not too sure if this is specific to my year(probably not). but on the left side of the steering wheel, exactly opposite of the cruise control buttons, theres a little panel there. under that panel, theres a plug in there, anyone know what that plug would be for?? cuz i really have no clue what it would be used for.

makes sense. where do those wires end up at?? i would love to be able to put my own things into that to make it work. it would mainly be just switches for extra lights and crap.

I'm a bit baffled by your geography. Do you mean the OBD II port, under the dash? Or are you missing a dash brightness rheostat?

If you take the yellow circle in your picture and move it to the right youwill see the access plate he is referring too. at the base of the wheel.

I just looked it up in the wire diagrams and these connectors were for a microphone and they both terminate in the trunk. Behind the passenger side liner above the fuel tank, the same place the cd changer wires are. My95 J30t also has these wires, I just never noticed the connectors on the steering wheel until now.

Well, I'll have to do a bit of spelunking. At least there's no big spiders and bugs.

[/quote]Yes, I've wondered about finding some use for that microphone. A '93 I'd looked at had the telephone mute and volume buttons on the steering wheel, a mirror of the cruise control buttons. I've not seen those on another, yet.
