I'm looking into installing a plug and play Sirius radio in my 1999 Q45t.

Anybody else out there gone through this. Which radio works best? Where have you installed it? Ash tray vs. cup holder? What about the antenna?

I don't want to spend much $ and don't want it to look junky.

Would like to pull it out and use it at home and office.

Any recommendations? Any pictures?

They all work pretty well. Id suggest getting a wired FM modulator to give you better signal to transmit to your factory radio, IF you live in a big city. I live in the Bay Area, California so pretty much all the radio stations frequencys are in use. The Wireless FM modulator really sucks out here in california.

Get it installed properly, and you wont have a problem. Antenna outside, on the trunklid, is the best, inside works about 70-80%.

I 2nd this... given the problems I have had so far, I can tell you that you definately want to choose a place with the bankroll/insurance to get it taken care of when the screw it all up.

Based on recent experience, Circuit City would be my reccomendation. They have treated me well. I am sure chinaonnitrous will recommend Best Buy since they employ him (I think).

Dont matter. CC, BB....they all have ****ty and good installers. Older/younger installers, new/old who knows. Be polite, be curtious and you'll get good service. The only reason its good to get it done at a national chain is because of hte lifetime warantee on labor. Thats the key part.

I ALWAYS recommend a good, independent installer. Do some research around your town and find out who's good. I avoid Circut City and Best Buy like the plague. Seen way too many half-assed sh(tty installs.

Avoid equipment made by Audiovox and Jensen. It doesnt matter how much you spend on installation if your hardware takes a dump.

I also recommend local shops. I pulled into a Circuit City once and they declined to work on my Q because it had wood trim. *shrug* And Best Buy in Spokane WA screwed up the wiring on my Mazda 929.

Find a good reputable installer in your area, where they work shouldn't matter. The quality of their work should.

As others have said find out who did the install. If you find out where, that guy and anyone with skills could be gone. It's the guy more than the shop.

And don't fall for the saving $20-50 by having someone do it on the side. It almost never pans out and you end up with bad work or paynig twice.
