Ok so when I get home I plan on doing a simple plenum pull to replace some of the gaskets and such. Possibly also do a 60k tune up.

This is my current shopping cart from z1. Am I missing parts for the plenum part of it? All smaller hoses will be bought at a local auto store.

Plenum parts

Balance tube o-ring set x1 $9.85

Z1silicone idle air hose set (na) x1 $48.00
-black

Throttle body gasket set (pair) x1 $6.00

Idle air gasket (iaa/iac) x1 $2.48

Z1 silicone pcv hose set - non turbo x1 $64.00
-black

Z1 silicone brake booster hose set x1 $29.00
-black

Nissan valve cover gasket kit x1 $58.00
-egr to plenum gaskets
(Includes plenum gasket, lh&rh valve cover gaskets, 2 half moon rubber seals, 1 tube ultra grey silicone gasket maker)

Other

Boost leak tester x1 $24.00
-with pressure gauge

Z logo battery tie down x1 $16.00

60k (still debating)

Nissan oem 60k-120k timing kit x1 $474.00
-model na
-year 1992
-accessory drive belt for stock pulleys
-include spark plugs

Total: $731.33 plus tax
Local pickup so no shipping. :)

Ok so the purpose of this is to find and fix a vacuum leak I've been fighting for about a year now. I figure doing this work will not only help me find the leak. It will also help me prevent a future problem.

Before anyone suggest anything crazy... all I want to do is fix and strengthen this motor. Its still rolling on 45k miles so there is no need to go crazy. Plus im saving to build the tt motor that I already have. However all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

You can swap out the rubber half moons for the BDE billet aluminum half moons, because they are more reliable.

Other than that I think your on point.

J30R9 is what you need.

Im not going for any type of power increase on this. So do I really need better fuel lines?

oem fuel line is best though pricy. But yes you need a hp fuel injection hose whether it's oem the j30r9 etc.

Stock NA or TT, doesn't matter, a J30R9 fuel line is required. Given the frequency you'll be replacing them (rarely) it makes sense to use OEM, as it's also the best fitting.

The OEM rubber half moons are fine, but the BDE ones you never have to replace once you buy them once.

If you're due for the 60K, get the kit as well. Maybe they'll give you a package deal. Get the silicone coolant bypass hoses as well. They're cheaper than stock and last forever.

Do the throttle body coolant line bypass as well. If you live in Georgia, there's no reason to have them, and they'll just leak in the future. You can use Z1's silicone coolant line for that as well.

Thanks. Im thinking about holding off on the 60k kit because I still have over 15k miles before I need them. And ill look into the other lines as well. None of those bypasses effect emmissions right?

Update:
So I said screw the 60k kit for now... not needed for a while. Instead I added these items

99 jdm tail lights x1 $440

Z1 chrome gauge rings x1 $38

300zx fuel line kit x1 $35.51

I am going to hold off on the coolant bypass hoses. Until I do my 60k
And if someone could send me a link to the throttle body lines that would be appreciated

The time to do the coolant line delete/bypass is with the plenum off as they are under it. No it wont effect your emissions at all.

I thought coolant lines are supposed to be done when you do a 60k

The first time you pull the plenum off you should delete the TB coolant lines. It will make pulling the plenum in the future MUCH easier. The 60k kit is really just replacing the timing belt/water pump/tensioner etc. on the front of the engine, not pulling the plenum off. They really aren't hard to delete once you get the plenum off.

And FYI I used auto parts store fuel line on mine, you just have to make sure its FUEL INJECTION hose not just fuel hose. Usually you have to specifically say fuel injection hose. Regular fuel hose will swell/balloon up (ask me how I know). The fuel injection hose I bought at AutoZone was rated at 10 bar (145psi) and it's held up great to the ~45 psi our fuel system pumps out.

Who are you buying from? Most vendors will substitute them out and you would then just pay the difference.

edit: Now I see that your holding off on the 60k kit until it gets closer to time.

Robo is a very smart dude, just had a real heavy foot so he got out of the Z "scene" (I hate that word) for a while. He'll be back though, me thinks.

Ok just looked at that article and I have a quick question. Isnt there some type of open end that will be left somewhere that needs to be blocked off. Im not with my car right now or else I would just look at my engine myself. Sorry if I sound like a complete moron with these questions... I've always been a hands on learner.

Without a pic to see what part your talking about exactly it's hard to give a better answer, but basically your deleting the lines under the plenum and looping the coolant to complete the flow cycle still on the backside of the plenum into the two large lines that run into the firewall for the heater core. A tt has a little more with to do than a n/a but not to bad.
