Finally got the car back together 2 months after starting the plenum job. Half the time was waiting for parts, I'm not that slow. Thanks, Doug, for the 4 injectors. They seem to be working well. All 8 have been ultrasonically cleaned off the car, did the fuel rail (it looked good anyway), new plugs, cleaned the TB & entire plenum off the car, replaced all hoses, knock sensors, harness, cleaned the injector harness contacts, cleaned IAC. Also replaced the fuel pump for good measure. Put it all back together, no leaks. The trickiest part was replacing the coolant bypass hoses in the valley. Two hard fittings with permatex and a large hose connection to be made at the same time. The knock sensor contacts were green with corrosion, my four injectors tested at around 70% rated flow before cleaning, but the TB looked pretty good. At the last stage of reassembly, I pulled apart one of the small hoses to the TB and found a bottle brush lodged in the hose ! I've had this car 3+ years, I didn't leave it there ! Also, the Plenum to runner gaskets had irregular applications of red permatex on them. The previous injector replacements had been done by Infiniti of Bloomington...I was hoping for a dramatic improvement in performance, but it wasn't all that. It's smoother & stronger in the mid-range, and that annoying shudder when taking off from idle is gone. It idles at the same speed, smoother but not perfect. 16.5 mpg on the first (oxygenated 93 oct.) half-tank, plenty of idling & high rpms. Any suggestions pursuing the perfect idle ?

Congrats Qdog, that's great news! It took me a while too. Didn't know enough then to order from Joe (or what to order, for that matter), but I was buying onesies twosies hoses from a local dealership an hour away. A power balance test would probably be the first thing to do to help narrow down a bad cyilinder. Compression test might help if that's the cause. Did you do a leak check on the rail?

What kind of leak check ? It passed the flashlight under the plenum & sniff tests. I once asked for a power balance test at the dealer here. The response: "You don't need that" ?! I have stayed away from the dealer since.

There is a good service writer in Minneapolis. Seems like he is at the dealer just east of downtown, north of an arterial with a large domestic lot adjoining it to the east. It's a little difficult to access. I think his name is Bob, but I so recall he came from Infiniti of Lisle. Fred will know better the dealer.

Probably was Bloomington.

In Minneapolis u have 2 dealers.Lupient Infinti and Infiniti of Bloomington.

I always felt Lupient was technicall a bit stronger but Bloomington would try more to save the customer money.

They both werent too bad and treated me well+ with respect despite my low budget.

Fred..:)

Never a bad idea to check the fuel rail visually for leaks if you're going to have it up off the runners anyway. Have someone turn the key to ON to get the pump to prime and just look to make sure none of the injectors are leaking.

Did you do the valve cover gaskets and fuel hose? And what about the Temp sensor? Oh yea the O2 sensors.... I'm on 182K and have done them all over the couse of a year (in stages) the first tank last week got me 17.82mpg but that was partially prior to the knock and temp sensors and with some very heavy foot testing. Also, all o-rings on injectors.... The only thing I did not do was injector flush.
