I am replacing the head gasket on my 92 dohc coupe and i was wondering if the removal of the timing chain is necissary or do i just need to remove the idler bolt and keep the chail from falling down inside the timing chain cover. Please help would like to be able to drive the car in a day or so

If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't do it. Let a shop replace the headgasket.

Well thanks but i got it figured out i just wasn't sure if i could just remove the idler bolt and call it good cuz i didn't what to have to remove the oil pan so i could get the timing chain cover off. I wanted to do it myself plus i live with three mechanics and we were just wonder if this way would work or if from experience if after you did it you then had to go and remove the timing chain cover anyway cuz the chain slipped of the lower sproket
