Hey everyone. I have a 1991 240sx coupe and I am debating on either an SR swap or a RB swap. I know this is kind of stupid but I need your opinions on what you would do if you had 10,000 to mod it up along with some suspension, electronics and exterior. I know by the time you put the RB in, I would have already spent from 6 to 8 thousand so how much money did your swap cost and are you satisfied with the swap and do you feel like it is powerful? If I do get an SR20, it would be a S13 Black top. And one last question. If you recieved the cluster with your motor and all the needles are in good condition and stuff, could you actually use KA speedsensor in the SR to make it read out in MPH? Because I know you have to swap the sensors so the MPH can read right. So has anybody tried it and what were the results?

You should really take some time to read the stickies at the top of this forum. RWD SR as well as the ones in the RB forums.

This question has been asked a thousand times already and would take more than one thread to answer. Thus why I say, please read and use the search button.

Welcome to NICO, stick around and read some of the posts.

its all a matter of preference and resources when its all boiled down.

Why SR? well, mostly because of its humoungous aftermarket support (in japan that is). the US is starting to develop parts as well. straight forward swap (took me 2-3 hours), turbocharged (obviously)

Why RB? "There is no replacement for displacement". Turbocharged. Decent Aftermarket support. Super Beefy.

in the end....it's all a matter of preference. Super Street and Sports Compact wrote a large article on which engine would be good for the S13/14 platforms. I have the issues if you would like photocopies.

if you have the money to do the RB, go ahead. remember however that you will have to be pretty knowledgeable with your tuning, for the RB is 740 lbs (entire motorset) to the front. that means suspension tuning. plus it wont be as user friendly and plug and play as an SR.

SR on the other hand, is a little cheaper, with a great lineup of aftermarket products, and has some parts of USDM engines that are interchangeable. plus its lighter and with the extra money can achieve as much power as any RB (unless your aiming for ungodly power numbers [dyno queen]).

if you got the time and money => RB. if you want it simple => SR.

again, ALL PREFERENCE. good luck!

You have broken three rules of the SR forum.
