Back off the 4 bolts on the K member(the front sub frame). This will lower the entire motor and transmission enough for the bell housing to clear the tunnel. If you think it's hard to get out without the K member bolts backed down just wait until you tried to put it back in.

The K member is the front crossmember. It's under the motor. However, I recommend not doing that. Those 4 bolts on the cross member are pretty much the only things that are keeping the motor from falling on you and crushing you.

I'm assuming you've pulled the driveshaft, the transmission crossmember, and the starter. You need to take a few prybars and insert them between the motor and the bellhousing and just start working it back. Put one prybar on each side and just slowly work it off a little at a time with each prybar. It will eventually release from the clutch and fall onto your jack.

I dont see why its not coming out, unless something is still connected. Double check to see if nothing is getting hung up. Sounds like the clutch is hanging up on the input shaft in the trans.. maybe jack it back up and pry/wiggly it again to see if it drops. When i was installing a trans in a 95 240 i had to mess with those K member bolts to help it clear the tunnel... but i had another jack supporting the engine and i was careful. Good luck.

Well the only thing i can think of is it hitting the firewall u can jack loosen the motor mounts alittle and jack up in the engine alittle but be cairfull not to crush anything IE OIL PAN even a small dent can be a total loss for the motor depending on location... If that doesnt work look all around the transmission and remove the last bolt that everyone missed. Also did u remove the starter? if that is still in then the wires and it hittin the manifold can hang it up
