For anyone who doesnt know me, I am the proud owner of a 93 hatch and a Heavy Throttle black top. I have had the car for almost 6 months now. It has yet to start. The Shop doing the installation (highly qualified and highly recommended) is totaly stumped as to what the problem could be. (car doesnt get spark, but why?) Ignitor and ECU were sent to HT for testing, ignition harness swapped, CAS swaped, still no spark.

After reading a recent post "ECU identification" I got to wondering, so I wrote down the two applicable codes "E5" and "J7". I called the shop and had them pull the ECU, it has a big fat "E6" sicker on it. Now Jeff Holden has told me that he put that ecu into his car, and it worked just fine.

I guess my question is, has anyone heard of an E6 ecu? Should I not belive Mr. Holden? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about the E6 ECU, but you said that you sent it to HT for testing. Presumably it came back OK? WHich probably means they plugged it into another car there and it worked.

I'd suspect the harness, who did the harness? What did they start with? I'd pull the harness out, and do a pin check on it, from ECU to igniter, ECU to dash connector, to plugs F8 and F9 - **** I'd check everything I could think of. I'd check the plug from teh dash to make sure I had +12v, +12 while cranking, etc.

So far the harness is suspect. They have checked it several times.. This is not a backwoods shop, they have done approx 10 installs before. The car cranks, and the coilpacks get voltage, but their is no spark.

E6 ECU should be the automatic black top 94-95 engine.

It should work fine.

Does your engine harness have any modifications done to it? Sometimes people will switch some wires around for computers such as the Power FC... these wires could be ignition or injectors.

You've swapped everything else. It is probably the harness.
