Or end up without a car or have an event you have to live with forever.kmckis1029 wrote:same thing i was thinking... i have learned to be humble in my g35x... people with cars that you can already see you are going to beat will try you at a red light or on the highway... if the car is a honda accord/civic(non si or rsx) or some other POS... no point in proving how fast you are... just to end up with the ticket...
Please elaborate. Being an attorney does not arbitrarily make you trustworthy or credible. Citing the specific laws and potential outcomes based on actual law might. Especially if you don't practice law or know the traffic laws and the potential outcomes in KY (you indicate you are from OK). He also didn't indicate what specific traffic law he was cited for, which can have an effect on the potential penalties that can be assessed. Forgie me if it appears like I am attacking you in anyway. I'm just not one to allow someone to arbitrarily decide on getting an attorney without good reason.Vinny14369 wrote:I'm a lawyer....
Don't go to court without a lawyer. You could lose your license.
Get a lawyer. Trust me ...

Sorry to rain on your devils advocate parade, but he's right GET A LAWYER! Every run in I have had with traffic citations I have hired a lawyer and tickets were dismissed. Last year this time I was coming from Miami and was clocked at going 97mph in a 55mph contruction zone. It was on alligator alley which is normally a 70 mph zone, but they were previously doing work on the highway. There were no workers present and no one on the road at that time. I hired who I thought was one of the best traffic attorneys in that area and he got the ticket dismissed. On another occasion I was cited for having my windows tinted too dark and decided to fight it in court after I took it off and placed legal tint on so that it wouldnt affect my driving record. I was the last one to plead in court and then the judge came outside to see if my tint was legal and told me to come back in to get the paperwork signed as dismissed when I went back in there was an attorney waiting on him with a huge stack of tickets. While courts secretary (dont know what they call them) was finishing my paper work, I over heard the attorney bargin with the judge over which tickets he would dismiss and which one he wouldnt. To make a long story short attorneys have relationships with judges that you dont. In addition they know the technicalities of the law that you don't.C-Kwik wrote:

Reread my post. I merely asked him to elaborate. Why? #1. He's not an attorney in KY. He may not even be a traffic attorney. Laws vary from state to state, as do their penalties. Which brings me to #2. The OP didn't state what the specific violation was. Typically, a vehicle code number is listed that will specify clearly what he is being charged with. This will have the biggest impact on what his potential penalties might be. Vinny stated that the OP might lose his license. It would be a shame if the OP ended up paying for an attorney if he was concerned about losing his license and it turned out it wasn't ever at risk. The issue I was addressing in my post was quite specific...mrsmithGrider wrote:Sorry to rain on your devils advocate parade, but he's right GET A LAWYER!
