We have noticed of late that we are getting bombed by spam bots signing up as members but not posting. This is done automatically with the hopes that we will send out a bulk email to our members. If we do you they will have your email address and will start sending you all kinds of offers from everything from viagra to various sex sites. We cannot add a feature that requires you to duplicate a string of letters/numbers when signing up but we can kill any member with zero posts. If you have joined and not posted please post something in one of the topics. Also if you know others who have joined but not posted please contact them and ask them to post soon. We will give one week for the message to get out to the members before we set the system to delete zero post members. We will also add a message to new people joining to post and may set up a forum just to welcome the newbees aboard. I personally deleted 100 of these members last Thursday and on Friday afternoon most of them were back. Mike has been working on it too. I just want to make sure that you as members don't have to deal with the garbage emails. At work I have a filter that usually catches 200 plus garbage emails a day. It  is no fun. Really sorry to hear about the spammers!!!! Unfortunately a common problem.  I do have a question for the members though so intead of lurking and waiting to see if someone else has dealt with it I will take the opportunity to raise it. (appologies if not in the correct form)  I am the proud owner of a 1982 720 King Cab 2wd with a blown head gasket. Ya it over heated.  Instead of tearing it down (since it probably has 300K on the engine I was thinking of doing a swap.  Can anyone suggest a possible donar that would be available at my local junk yard and be relative easy? Thanks for any help anyone may have

You will see several sections for the different truck models. You will get a better response for your problem if you post there. Also....try the search option for your issue. The answer may already be there for you.

Try Googleing the names of those new members. You will find their info posted on many many forums as spammers.

It is very interesting, it is not just our forum getting hit by these guys. :shock:

A note to spammers. You will be banned, your email will be posted, and your location will be "SPAMMERS" so everyone will know what you are.

This is fair warning...accounts with links to p0rn or drug websites will be handled in this way. If you are not a spammer and feel that your account was handled innapropriately then contact the admin with an explanation and your account will be reviewed.

It is unfortunate that this is what has to be done, but it will protect those members on this forum who are here to help each other out.
