Hi guys

I bought a G20 1996. Now I'm very dissapointed because this car drinks gas, it goes about 13 mpg. What could be the problem? I took it to the mechanic and he told me that I have to pay about 400-500$ just for inspection. When I step out of the car I can smell the gas, is there a leak probably?? or something wrong with the system??

Please help me out and advice is appreciated!

Daniel

Well, what does the Infiniti Dealer performed service history and the report frorm the Infiniti Senior Technician say?

Without a maintenance history, there is not much we can do with text.

I would start with the fuel lines from the injectors and work back to the tank.

Have the OBD2 system scanned for codes and research their meaning and solution in the FSM.

Buying a 11 year old car without paying an expert to do a prebuy inspection and test of results in your buying someone elses problems.

Used cars are often sold with $2,000-$3,000 in needed repairs.

Download and read [pdf] the FSM, the thousand of pages will provide you the answers you seek.

13 mpg with an AT in CA bumper to bumper traffic might be ok with ethanolized gasoline, whereas one should expect 28 mpg at 60 mph on light/steady freeway use.
