All of these people had to move OUT of Maryland in order to make it big. i.e. California, New York, Florida, etc. I can't do such right now unfortunately. You know nothing about the modeling business.

That seems clear. Suburban Maryland is not exactly a hot location for modelling jobs.

Modelling is a very competitive industry. Many times it requires a break like this kinda contest to get noticed by talent scouts. We're rooting that she not only wins but gets that break

its not a cop out, and you wanna know why?

because you have to be seen by people in order to get anywhere.

Most people who live in areas where there is no market for their talent succeed because a) they move or visit larger areas that specialize in their market i.e. Los Angeles/New York City; b) they are in the right place at the right time and get "discovered" whether it is in person or on the internet by someone who is from a larger market area and happens to stumble upon them, which the changes of are extremely slim; or c) they have connections to these worlds because quite frankly, connections get people more places than some people who are trult deserving.

Maybe i'm not "discoverable" material or meant to hit the big time; but its hard to be "seen" where I am which is why I enter contests such as Enjuku Girl of the Year because it increases visibility, traffic and popularity.

just having talent doesnt get you anywhere. you have to work hard and believe me, i've been at the bottom of the barrel and have risen a great amount to get where I am today and can say that i'm higher than a lot of other models in the area. does it pay all of the bills? no. Would i like them to? absolutely. But it doesn't just come that easy and maybe my gripes/frustration on the forums frustrates you because you dont see it but everyone else sure is supportive as hell, so what is your deal?
