Those are 3 pics of the ACT

Ok, I am about to sell my S13 that I have had for 19 years!

I had a ACT HD clutch installed 6 months ago. After 2000 miles it started to have problems dragging and then I could not get it into gear at all. I had it toad to the shop and they took it apart and this is what happened to the ACT Bearing. I have had problems with the ACT from the day it was installed. Stiff clutch, Chatter, whining noise when the clutch was not depressed and then would go away when clutch was depressed in gear or in neutral.

Well I bought a Exedy Stage 1 and this thing is so stiff it is like pushing in a manual from a 70 Boss 409. It chatters, I hear the same whining noise & really cannot drive it. I think the whining noise is the impeller shaft in the transmission (that is what someone said). I forgot to mention that I drove the car about 400 miles with no gear oil in the transmission. Not my fault the shop did not check it & when I pulled the drain plug it was bone dry, so I think I fried the trans. But I cannot figure out why the clutch is so hard to press in. Another person that drove it said something has to be binding or maybe the fork is bent or the ball is damaged. I really do not want to bring it back to the same shop because I feel like they might not know what they are doing.

Anything to look for? Everybody says it is in the adjustment & you really cannot adjust the clutch except a little at the pedal which was done. Put in a new master & slave which did not do anything.

I am so aggravated & maybe after 19 years it is time to move on. I just spent tons of money on a new KA which was a mistake so I am really going nuts. Could they have put in the clutch in backwards?

well they way that you said it it might be your imput shaft. if you press on the clutch pedal and the noise goes away and the noise return when release the pedal then its your imput shaft cause i had that problem too i took the transmission apart and found out that the bearings on the imput shaft are mess up... lucky i had a spare transmission on the side could of replace it but had a spare makes the job easy.

Looks to me that the flywheel was never resurfaced.Do not grease the throwout bearing!Only grease the input shaft where the collar slides.Get a new flywheel.

Your pressure plate is shot, your throw out bearing is shot, and I can only imagine your flywheel looks as horrible. I would also just assume your trans is shot from no oil.

So I imagine a complete clutch kit, a flywheel, and a trans should solve all your problems...

yeah, seriously 400 miles with no fluid how did it not seize lol

The transmission has nothing to do with the pedal being stiff only the design of the cluth. And do not grease your tob, only the splines on the shaft like said above.

I don't know what to tell you, the whine could be from the tob, but if it's a new bearing it's unlikely it would already be whining

Hi, When I put in the new Exedy stage 1 last week I had the flywheel turned. It is so stiff I cannot drive the car! Could they have put the clutch disk in backwards both times. The Act had only 2000 miles before the throw out went out & I had an Extreme for 5 years no problems. Any reason for the clutch to be so hard? Fork, pivot, ETC. The shop said they checked everything so it is just odd that a new HP ACT lasted 2000 miles & this Exedy 1 is 10 times harder then the Extreme I had.Something has to be wrong.THANKS

I would try to getting a new clutch line. could possibly be clogged? ive never heard of that but could have too much pressure.. if you're not drifting or racing the 240 just get the oem stock clutch kit from nissan .. the higher the stage the more stiff it is. .. right now i think my T.O.B is going it makes a noise when the clutch is no pressed in and its in neutral and goes away when i press the clutch in.

I agree with Spanky, I've read that it's very common for the OEM clutch line to break down on the inside and collapse and clog itself. Maybe a new line would help. Can't hurt for $30 http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/drivetrain.html
