Please help with steering wheel locking

ok my steering wheel is completely locked on my 240 sx i can turn on the car and everything i just cant turn the steering wheel no matter how hard i try. this happened after i got an intake sytem put in but i doubt that had anything to do with it any suggestion, btw the search option sint working no matter what term i put it comes up no results

if u can take the key out and what not...id think the ignition is shot...the part that locks the wheel i mean but youd still hafta get a hole new ignition i believe

This may seem obvious but have you tried rapidly turning the steering wheel back and forth with your left hand while trying to simultaneously turn the ignition key with your right? That may unlock it for you. Good luck.

Yeah, there's going to be a little bit of steering wheel play. Insert your key, turn the steerng wheel little bit, hold it and turn the key and see if that unlocks it. But if that doesn't work, like Malac0da13 said, there's a chance that your ignition system is shot.

The ign lock is mechanical. when you rotate the key it unlatches the lock. However I doubt your ignition lock is bound if your able to start the car. Unless you are hot wiring it or turning only the electric portion of the switch. In this case you need to remove the entire ignition lock assembly.

thnks for the help guys i ended having to remove the whole thing. the tumbler in the ignition is shot i need to get a new ignition =( time to hit the junkyard...
