Wow, What an engine in that thing!

Back then the L-series had interchangable parts. Timing gear part would swap over from engine to engine eith ease, cut down on production costs and frankly I thought it was genius. L28 pictons can be made to run in an L20 if the bore and stroke are set. I don't have my Datsun modifier handbook on me but I can look into this more if you'd like. An L16 is what the base 510 came with. There was also a SSS version which came with a racing head. The L20 was found in models like the 610, second-gen 510, 710, 620 and first year 720.

so do you know the original size of the L20? should i be woried about blowing head gaskets in the higher rpm's, because of the bigger bore?

thanks for the help

Stock Bore is 85mm. A lot of different stock pistons will fit in there and there are a few different heads that will also work. How do you see how to drive that thing? I would put the carbs back under the hood.
