Please HelpAlright I have a 91 fastback. I swapped the Sr20 into it and am now confused on what to do next. Yea I want a lot of power. My target is to hit around 375HP even possibly 400HP. SO yea a lot of mods I will have to do. Although. I do not want my car all about performance I gotta give it some look.

SO i decided todo one of these following things: 1.) Work on Fuel system so I can put in a GT2871R turbo and not have problems later on. I will be upgrading the fuel injectors, fuel pump, Air Fuel Controller, and Boost Controller. 2.) Get Forged pistons and connecting rods. Is it really worth buying a whole stroker kit? for like $3000.00?3.) smaller ups such as Clutch and Short shifter, Exhaust system and downpipe, intake.4.)5 lug conversion rear and front, coil overs and other footwork mods

I would like to paint the car but I'm saving looks for last(body kit, fenders, wheels, etc)

What I would like to know is what option should I go with. This 240sx is my first car and being only 16 the car and the engine have put a huge dent in my wallet so I will most likely only finish one of the 4 mod listings this summer.

As far as trying to reach around 400hp heres the order I'd do the motor in:1.)Fuel Pump2-4.)Exhaust system (exhaust, downpipe), clutch + flywheel, intake (any order)5.)Fuel system (injectors, Z32 Maf, ECU tune or air fuel computer)7.) Headwork (cams, springs, retainers, metal headgasket)6.)GT2871R

You wont need a stroker kit or any bottom end work for 400hp.

If you're wanting 5 lug conversion for bigger brakes, it'd be cheaper and just as good to get the brake kits for the 4 lug (fastbrakes.com). If you want the bigger rim selection too then 5 lug is good.

As far as coilovers and suspension, that's personal preference and what you want the car for. I just threw on struts and springs and I'm happy with my suspension while most others on Nico like more suspension work done.

^ are you sure a t28 can handle 400 hp? Why not move up to a t3?

In any case, nobody has mentioned a turbo manifold with an external wastegate. That'd be a must.

A guy on FreshAlloy posted he made 400hp on the GT2871R. I don't know if he constantly made 400 but the dyno chart showed it.

T3 set up would be more realistic but that's more work and he said he wanted to go GT2871R. And yeah I forgot about the manifold and wastegate. You'll prolly want to get a bigger oilpan and I know you need to get a Koyo radiator and fans or something other then the stock radiator and fans.

#1 priority with a high HP car are:- high performance braking - improved suspension for good handling

Increasing the crankshaft stroke is questionable; it'll cut down on the high RPMs. However the low speed torque will go up.

Get Forged pistons and custom connecting rods if you're looking for 400+ HP.

The stock rods are quite durable on an SR. Unless they've had something really bad happen to them, they should be just fine for anything a 2871r can throw at it. I can assure you that even with a piston exploding chances are the rod can still be extracted without damage. However, they are somewhat on the heavy side.

Indeed probably the best modification you can do is repair the suspension. Reason I say repair, is because your bushings will be trashed, boots torn, rack will have play and the list goes on. Believe me, repairs on the suspension will cost you both quite a bit of time and money. Quite possibly one of the best things to keep in mind when building a car, is power is nothing without control.

With a piston exploding chances are saving the rods will be the last thing on your mind.

i hope you have or get some kind of differential before trying to get anywhere near 400whp. open diff and hp do not mix.

400whp is easy on a GT2871R .86 A/R. It is even doable on the .64: zer...age=1

Anyways, otterman pretty much nailed the list.
