Please help with 2001 QX4 right signal light and shifting gear

Happy New Year everyone!

About a week ago, I had a problem with my right signal light. When I stepped on my brake, the right signal light turned on steadily. I have researched the web and I gather is was the ground wire? I was ok with that until this afternoon when the problem expanded. My shafting gear stop working when I step on the brake. It will only work when I turn on the right signal. Notice, the first problem of right signal light is no longer a problem. Has anyone encountered this type of problem? Or does anyone know the solution to my problem? Your help is greatly appreicated as I only have 110K miles on my QX4 and I am just not ready to part separate ways yet! Thank you in advance for your help!!

for starters, what the heck is a shifting/shafting gear? do you mean the lock mechanism that allows you to shift out of park only when the brake is pressed?

if so, then it sounds like you have a cross-short somewhere in your stop light circuit. the shift lock senses a hot brake light circuit to allow you to shift out of park. if your right turn signal turns on steady when you press the brake, and you can only shift out of park when you turn on the right turn signal, then the computer is obviously confusing the 2 signals.

this could be a hard circuit to back trace, but just start at the end of the circuit (bulbs) and work your way back with a multimeter. or take it to the shop.

Do you have LED brake or turn signal bulbs?

mine are all incendescent
