Ok so i bought another 240sx and it was auto and just needs a new transmission. I had one lying around so i decided to swap them out.

I pulled the old transmission out and everything, but i cant seem to get the new transmission to line up and make the output shaft go into the torque converter. The bell housing keeps hitting the firewall, especially where the starter is. I tried rotating the transmission alittle to try to wedge it in there, but it didnt work.

I have also loosened the motor mounts to hopefully tilt the motor to install the transmission w/ no luck.

So im just asking if anyone here has swapped out auto trannies before and could tell me the process or some helpful hints to get that sucker in there. Its starting to give me a headache. Thanks!

tilt the engine more. A wood block under the oil pan and a jack should help you achieve this.

no, no,no

you have to take the torque converter off of the flexplate and install it onto the output shaft.

slide it onto the shaft, then spin it and push in on it at the same time. you have to index it.

after that, good luck, that f*cker is heavy.
