I have ALOT of questions so please bear with me:
I have had the my s14 SR installed since August but have been unable to get it to start. The problem seems to be that my coilpacks are not firing. Last night I was trying to troubleshoot my SR wiring again and ran into a few interesting things. Using a test light, I was able to get current from each of the connectors to the coilpacks. However, when I pulled out the coilpack and flipped the spark plug to see if it would fire, nothing. I then checked for current at the igniter chip. There is an arrow on the ignitor chip. I get no current from the connector behind the arrow, but I do at the connector on the side the arrow is pointing toward.
Does this mean that my ignitor chip has a problem? If so, is it possible that I could have power going to my coilpacks, but without the ignitor chip, they won't actually fire?
There are red, white, and black wires to each of the coilpack connectors (+, -, E). What does the "E" stand for? Could one of these wires being dead still allow for a signal at the connector overall and still keep the coilpack from firing? Would that be related to my ignitor chip?
Another strange thing is that somewhere near the ignitor chip there is a small female two wire/pin connector that doesn't seem to have a home. One wire is black and orange, the other is brown. It has current. When we looped both pins, it blew the fuse to the fuel pump. But with it still disconnected, my fuel pump seems to work fine, I hear it whine when turn the ignition on for accessory power, and i smell gas when I crank the engine, as well as a "gulping" sound. What is this connector for?
And finally, I can't seem to find a connector to plug into my oil pressure sending unit (at least I think that's what it is- yellow plastic connector off a metal cylinder coming off the block on the passenger side). Does the SR have a feature that cuts off fuel or spark if there is no oil pressure signal? Where should the connector for that be/where does it go? Sorry for the extremely long post and tons of questions, but I am very close and this is all I know. Can anyone help me?
