I was looking for a troubleshooting site when I happened upon this one. Looks GREAT and I do hope someone has some insight as to what is wrong with my car. I have a 1993 Q, recently purchased, new battery, runs like new. Just turned 111,233 miles. My story is this...I stupidly locked the keys in my car this afternoon (Left them on the SEAT!). Called AAA who put a wedge in the driver's side window and was able to push the power door lock button. Of course, the horn started and I hopped in, put the key in the ignition, started the car and I was off. Drove the car home- everything was great. Tonight, went out to take my daughter to gymnastics, put the key in the ignition, and nothing! No click-click-click like a bad starter, no turn over, nothing! Initially there was a "moaning" sounds from the trunk area (?), then after a few attempts, that stopped. I have read and re-read the manual, as I thought it may have something to do with the security system? (Does the car think it was "stolen"?) I'm in Trumbull, CT., where the temp is now probably low 30's and going down to 10 tonight and my "baby" is in the driveway instead of the garage! Many thanks!

I assume you've tried locking and unlocking the door with the key?

Yes, I have locked and unlocked doors and the trunk.

I didn't know the Q45 had an ignition cutoff. I thought it just blared the horn and blinked the lights.

Is the battery discharged?

How did you find it?

I recently found this site through the google groups groups.google.com on rec.autos.tech and I think its way cool.

I had a similar problem. I played with the lock, opened/closed the door, and it went away.

Maybe the battery has to be disconnected overnight? What does the security light do when you lock and unlock the car?

Thanks, Jesda- I'll go out in a few minutes and try again. I certainly hope my problem goes away, too!

Okay- just went out (Feels like Siberia out there!), did the lock-unlock routine to no avail. Heard the "low moan" sound from the rear. The computer read-out says "OK", no negative idiot lights on. Feeling disheartened! Thanks anyway.

The low moan is the fuel pump, so the on position of the ignition is working. Disconnecting the battery to "reboot" things is a good plan.

Check/tap/replace the starter inhibitor relay ------blue one, left of ABS.

Breaking in via a wedge may have bent something? The drivers door has the lock switch and the dual contact door closed switch.

You don't carry a spare key in wallet?
