so this weekend i scratched the under part of my front bumper, because a curb was to high when parking and i scuffed it. posting.php?mode=post&f=249&sid=87e2a2a ... 24e7b3ba36# The front bumper is plastic, so can i still use touch up paint to cover it?? if so will i need to smooth it out?

post pics to give us more.

did the scratch take out the paint completely? did it go through the primer?

if not much paint came off, i've used http://www.amazon.com/Quixx-00070-US-Pa ... to_image_0 before. works great.

you can also...

1 lightly wet sandpaper of grit 200 or 300.
2 take wet sandpaper and pass it aroudn the scratch (both in a circular and horizontal/vertical motion); sanding helps to remove debris/smoothen the area
3 rewet sandpaper if necessary
4 when done sanding, wash that area w/ water&car soap
5 polish it nicely
6 if your require to touch-up paint it, the area should be ready if you've doen the above steps

is it like the frickin scrapes I got last week?

here it started to add touch-up paint

dont mean to thread jack, but...
i've put touch-up paint, but the sratches were too big so it didnt come out as smooth/nice.
plus the brush that comes with the touch-up paint is ginormous. i did use an artistic brush, but it still came out sub-par. using the pen was more of a fail. maybe i'll post pics tom

Ive scraped underneath my car also except mine is pretty much all around, not just in one spot. I'm not too worried about it since it's not noticeable unless you feel for it. But yeah lips are about 200 ish.

its not noticeable, but i know its there . and i dont like having damage on my car. haha! there are also some paint chips in the front from small rocks flying up that i want to to touch up.

i was looking at a nismo front and rear lower spoilers, and they run for $337 for both.

i was at usps today while sitting in my car gettin the package rdy .. here comes a woman driving a suv next to me (i waited for her to completely park, before i could get out).. 2 kids came out of the car (one from passenger side and another from the back) jumped out of the car slammed the suv door on my car, dinged + chipped my front Fender + Door. i went inside and confronted her. she first denied that her kids dinged my car. I told her to come out and had her open front and back doors, the dings and damage match perfectly to her car door. took picture.. exchanged insurance info. Now, Imagine what happened today, if i wasnt in the car to witness? .. chip pain and dinged door.. i will kill someone. lol

I always do try to watch out for where i park my car. but today i was just going to be in and out within a minute of time, thats why i didnt think of park further away. but even for that 1 minute away , potential damage can be done to your car.

Whenever I park far away, someone ALWAYS parks next to me. I park rows away from other cars and some person, usually with an old beat up car/truck will skip the major pack of parked cars, skip the empty rows in between my row and theirs and then park right next to me. It's so lame. Now I try to park next to other nice cars under the assumption that they care about their car just as much as I care about mine. There is no escape haha

+1. I get aholes that do that all the time. Someone did the same exact thing you described and parked so close to me, I could barely squeeze in my car. I got out a piece of scrap paper, wrote them a nice note and stuck it on their window lol

It happened while I was parked. this crappy, old a** honda parked behind me and stratched all of that while it was parked.

refer to infiniti's answer... I just bought a bottle set of touch-up paint from the nissan dealership.

It comes with a base coat bottle, which you put on first, (about 2 layers each scratch; wait like 30 min between coats) and a topcoat bottle (the clearcoat) which you put on last (just one coat was good for me).

I also bought an artistic brush for those smaller areas cause the 2 bottles come with brushes that dispensed too much paint for the scratch.

i prepped the area by wet sanding it to have a smoother, less-bumpy surface; you dont really have to due this but i did anyway. I used 300 grit sand paper and just moderatly ran a water bottle on it to wet it. Then I sanded in circular motions, cleaned/washed what was sanded, and polished the area.

warning: sanding can take some of the oem clearcoat off, so unless you have polish, you might get some to come off it your too rough with the sandpaper.

yea...

yea, thats exactly how my sratches were...touch up paint will work okay and, once its applied, you can only notice it if you look out for it. Far away, you cant tell. And your sratch is in a moderately concealed area, unlike mine  .
