i've had a clunking noise comming from my suspension for a while now. nissan told me to get new struts... that didn't fix it. then i was leaning on the cv joint... several people told me thats not it. does anyone know what this noise can be? i busted my shoulder up and need surgery so i can't get under and look at it myself. what should i do? please help!

I get the same thing with my wife's car. New shocks and i still get a clunking sound when I pull (backwards) out of the drive way. I suspect maybe there might be something shifting in her trunk. Will have to check.

do you think it could be the strut mounts?

It could be the strut mounts, but don't rule out the stabilizer end links. They can make some pretty harsh noises when they go bad. You also need to consider the control arm bushings. If worn they can cause the control arm to pivot too much, possibly contacting the subframe. These would have to be extremely worn though.
