99 G20 is sluggish and hesitates. I have taken it to a mechanic and was told that the codes read "multiple misfires". They replaced the #1 fuel injector and that didn't remedy the problem. They have now informed me that it is the EGR valve. I'm at a loss and don't know whether I am getting the run around or not. I was told that it took over 3 hours to get the EGR valve off and that it was VERY clogged. The replacement part will take over 24 hours to receive and now I am a bit curious. My wife has been taking care of this and I fear she may be getting duped. Can anyone please help??!!

Could be any number of things, but I'm surprised they didn't start with the basics: Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc.

A thorough cleaning of the intake and TB, the IACV and PCV system...

3 hours to remove an EGR on an SR is laughable.

I think you are being drug over the coals if you ask me. You yourself should have started with a simple tune up to see if it would correct the problem. I have a sticky in this forum on how to clean the egr, check maf and tps voltages. 3hrs to get the EGR out sounds way out in left field as well. Tell them you want to know exactly what codes they are pulling from the ecu. By this a number is what I need. We can look up the codes ourselves and see what they actually are for.

This is an auto shop I have used for years. They recently changed management and I don't have the "comfort" I used to. They have already performed a tune up (approx. 1300 miles ago). Quote is "Remove EGR Intake and replace $459.35. Sounds a bit high to me. Thank you all for your feedback!
