Radio Shack has inexpensive sound level meters that are accurate enough but you will need to hire an engineer with a PE certification to be a useful witness in court.Shouldn't cost you more than $10,000 to fight the $440 ticket.

Why [how] did you piss him off so?

I don't know where you are (information missing in profile), but if you cannot effectively represent yourself in court (and you seem inexperienced by your question), get an attorney from your area who specializes in traffic citations.

This is a slam dunk for dismissal unless you mess it up.

Visit this site... It's Canadian but the info can be applied here. If what you're saying is true and complete, just contesting it in court will be enough to have it thrown out. (I've been there)

Exactly tech!...I stuck that in there for a reason.

I've contested a few tickets and even hired an atty for a no insurance charge in NY (Nassau county L.I.). He walked up to the judges bench, whispered something into his ear (they were old buddies and golfing partners) and my name was never even called after that. Cost me 300 bucks and was worth every penny.

"I plead guilty" is the sound they love to here...Cha-ching!...goes the cash register. Easy money.

Just pleading not guilty is cause enough for the state's rep to walk over to you and offer a lesser penalty/fine. Each "trial" uses up their valuable resources so they are more than willing to offset their cost by handing you a quick deal. If the charge is for lesser than 15 mph above the speed limit, it's not even worth their time and they are on the verge of throwing it out... providing you plead not guilty.
