I am thinking of buying a 91' 300Z and it has 109k miles on it. Its grey with black leather interior and seems to be flawless, the guy is asking 4500 for it. I just want to know if 100k plus miles is okay for a 300Z. Thank you in advance and any information would be much appreciated seeing it as I am thinking of buying this weekend.

for that price, it is a good deal. As long as it runs good and is in decent shape. that motor should last at least 2k+ Besides, you could always rebuild it and put turbos on it.

No, it's not a turbo. Just an N/A.

actually you can't as it would be cheaper to just buy a TT. but that's another story.

I checked a price guide for that car and the listed resale was $10,000, that doesn't sound right and that wasn't for a turbo. hmmm... Anyway, if it's in extremely good condition I say go for it. Where is the car located, or where has it been driven for it's lifetime?

I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic or a Nissan dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. I paid $75 for one for the first Z I looked at last spring, and was glad I did b/c I ended up not getting the car. If everything checks out, then it sounds like a hell of a deal. Besides, that is actually low mileage for a 13 year old car.

Mayhem: Thanks for the help. The guy has told me that it has only been here in San Diego while he has had it. I am planning on driving it sometime this weekend.

Boiler: Good advice, I dont know if I really feel like spending 75 dollars every time I looked at a Z, but a mechanic would be a good idea. I plan on having a few friends with me when I go to look at the car.

BTW...my father informed me of the 10k dollar check that will be in the mail next week, so that is what I have to work with. Any other suggestions? If I can find a TT under 10k, would it be a worth while investment? Or would it be smarter to just stick with the N/A, I mean since I am only eighteen. Insurance will be high no matter what, but a TT V6 Coupe will be out the door. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you want a TT, get a TT. Don't think that you can get an N/A and do a TT conversion for less in the long run. It won't work out that way (unless you get an NA for <$3000). Another thing you can do to lower your insurance is to raise your deductibles. That saved me ~$35/month when I first got my TT (and I was 27). Definitely check out http://www.twinturbo.net for the wealth of information that is there. There is even a good writeup in the FAQ section for what to look for when buying a used Z. Good luck!
