alright so about a week ago..i was driving and my car just cut out no power....it just died was...i thought i was my alternator because got my car jummped and it wasn't holding current it was just dieing( i hooked up a voltmeter to it)

a week later (yes i know im lazy but iv had **** to do) i took the alternator out and the power cord liek the return to the battery that keeps it charged the whole wire is corrated with the like bule stuff u see on batter termanls when they get corrated...and the wire is like burnt...

this is what iv done so far:alternator=good got it testedbattery=reads good and holds a chargestarter= good75a fuse=good

and these are the only things i can think of

but what would cause something like this and whats the fix for it?

Replace the wire.

Fixed your thread title... Please dont make titles in all caps-- little pet peeve of mine.

IF your problem is electrical (which seems weird), I suppose it's plausable that the cable is the last thing that needs to be checked in that system. Measure resistance from end to end and see what you find.

Also, are you sure your belt was functioning properly? If the alt isnt spinning then you're not going to produce power. Also if this is the case, your car will run off of the battery untill you kill it-- but you said the battery tested fine (no charging needed?). Please clarify.

Also, I'm going to move this to our Nissan Mechanic section in a few mins (hopefully after you see this post). This isnt really KA-T related.

well the battery was dead becaue the alternator wasn't returing current back to the battery...but but the belt was a little worn but it was stilll moveing the alternator was working and all but it like littery FRYED the wrie its alll crisp and corrated and the corrasion goes back thought the electirc tape thats around the harness...

how i would i test the resistance?

im gonna try and get pictures tomarrow

sorry about that i didn't mean to post in the wrong form i jus allways post here so i didn't think it would really matter sorry about that again
