Car: 91 Nissan 300ZX - Need a Nissan Z32 300ZX VG30 Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut

Post

I have a 91 300ZX With the standard non turbo engine, I'm wanting to purchase a Z32 300ZX VG30 Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut

So what I'm wanting help with is..
MOST IMPORTANT: Should I buy just the engine and just put it in or should I buy a Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut.
will I have future problems at all???

Also If you can give me an estimate How much I should pay for a Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut and how much the installation would be that would be awesome! ???

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: If you have done this before..
WAS IT SUCCESSFUL PUTTING JUST THE ENGINE IN THE CAR OR WAS PUTTING THE WHOLE FRONT CUT ON THE CAR A BETTER OPTION???

Thanks guys and looking forward to all your opinions and/or solutions.

I'm not sure if you quite grasp what the whole point of a "front cut" a.k.a. "front clip" is for.

You basically take all the engine components, transmission, and anything else you would need and swap it into your car. You then scrap the stuff you don't want. I personally would just sell the N/A and get a TT, but that's just because I've seen "Low miles JDM motors" to turn out to be horror stories. My friend is in the middle of his TT build/swap, and just in maintenance parts alone (not performance upgrades), he's well over $7,000 invested into this car. Add another $5,000 in performance mods and that's where she currently sits. Engine mostly put together, almost ready to be dropped in. It's tricky when it comes to selecting a course of action.

Also, this topic should have been placed in "Z32 general chat" in the Z series subforum, and has been covered many times before if you would use the search button in the top right of your screen.

Thanks allot buddy,
Your friend sounds like he is building an absolute best and spending some serious cash doing it.
If I had that much to spend I would but I'm not really looking at spending that much.
so I would have to invest on a 300ZX front clip to have a twin turbo engine right? :)

Not entirely. There's always motors to be had, just gotta look for em. I honestly would prefer a higher mileage USDM motor as opposed to a "Low miles" JDM motor, seeing as I the first thing I would do when I got it was tear it apart and do at least a basic engine rebuild. It's all about what you want in the end. For a basic TT conversion done right, you're looking to spend ballpark ~$5,000. Otherwise, it's going to turn into a headache.

thanks for the advice guys.. It's really helped :)
I'm buying the Clip for $2200 Australian Dollars and getting it put in for around $2000..

All I'm buying is the engine gearbox wiring and loom really, It has no brakes or strut so I'm going to have to buy brakes suitable for the twin turbo and use the strut off my ZX if I can.
The Engine has done 86,000 KM'S and comes with a 1 MONTH WARRANTY,
It's also been run & tested at the premises.
I'm going to have to spend money on the 120k kit.
Visually Housing of the engine looks great.
The oil pans are fine.

Hopefully I'm getting a good deal as I looked at 5 engines over the last three days :)
let me know your thoughts..
